The almost forgotten Deunte Heath has been called up and will pitch for my ChiSox today!

At 27 this may be his last, great chance to stick, especially this early in season. He's only been in Charlotte for a few days and stats show he's pitched 3 innings but given up 0 runs.

The Sox protected him from Rule V draft a few years ago.

Great to hear. I think it is funny which guys actually make the league compared to the others who wash out either due to performance or injuries.
I thought Chase Headley had a chance but I also thought Eli Iorg would be there too. You just never know, D Heath did mostly relief work while he was hear if I remember right, but good for him nonetheless.

Anything after today is gravy for Heath. HE MADE IT. Every kid who plays baseball dreams of that day. I loved the scenes in the Rookie where he gets the news and when he goes in the locker room for the first time and sees his uniform.

It's hard enough to just get to pro ball and the last stats I heard said, 92% of players who sign a professional contract, never play one day in the majors. Congrats to Duente.
