Rating top NFL linebackers - JSOnline

I work for Travel Channel, so I love Dhani Jones (if you haven't seen "Dhani Tackles the Globe", you need to), but this list is pretty nuts.
Did find it interesting that he's already got Jerod Mayo as the #6 LB in the league. No way Dhani is better than Jon Beason, though.

I'll have to check out the show.

As dominant as Harrison, Matthews, and Ware are as OLB's in the 3-4, I'll take a Willis or Mayo over them any day. They are great players who benefit from the system they play in. I think Mayo and Willis can do what they do. I don't think they can do what Mayo and Willis do.

The show is fantastic. I have a big respect for him and what he does on the show. Very entertaining.

How's working for the Travel Channel??? I love that channel. Anthony Bourdain is badass. I drank a beer with him at the Crowne Plaza hotel bar in Knoxville a couple years ago.

BTW, according to the players list, it goes:

Harrison
Willis
Vilma
Suggs
Urlacher
Mayo
Wake
Briggs
Beason

With the top 20 spots still remaining (so Matthews, Lewis, and Ware above Harrison).

I've only seen one episode of the show, but I love the concept. It was the one where he went to England to play rugby.

Any list without Mario Williams is moronic, granted he has never played the position but you can bet that he will dominant out of that 3-4 OLB position.

Just like Haynesworth when he made the switch. :)

DeMarcus Ware is the #1 LB in the NFL IMO.

He isn't asked to do anything other than rush the passer though.

He's great at it, don't get me wrong, but he's not a guy that can do everything a great LB should do.

If Dallas were running a 4-3, he'd be an outstanding DE and a mediocre OLB.

That's why I have a hard time considering OLBs in a 3-4 the best LB in the business.

I can agree with most of those points. Maybe I should have been more specific and said D-Ware is the best OLB in the NFL.

IMO he is the best pass-rusher in the NFL regardless of position.

An elite pass-rusher is almost essential for a team to be successful in the NFL. I would go as far to say it is the most important piece to a team except a franchise QB and maybe a shutdown CB.

And while he rushes the passer 95% of the time, he still does other things on the football field. He is very solid in the run game. He hardly ever misses tackles on the QB or RB. When he gets his hands on the offensive player it is over. And he rarely goes into coverage, but I do remember an interception return for a TD on Michael Vick a few years ago.

Ware is extremely talented player and IMO the best OLB/pass-rusher in the NFL. I would say Willis/Lewis are the top ILBs in the NFL.

That's splitting too many hairs.

He's a great OLB :p
