Did anyone catch the comment Phil Fulmer made on ESPN during the noon-time broadcast of this morning's practice. When they asked him about the starting QB position, he said he'd be announcing it next week. It leads me to believe he already made up his mind and it’s not going to be two starters like last year. I think he’s going with Ainge. What do you think?

After last yr, I really have no clue what Phil will do, but I think we will be ok either way.

What he said is there could be an announcement next week or it could come later, both were veteran QB's.

They are graded after each practice and each scrimmage and so far it's a virtual dead heat

Left handed, huh.....Now I am really confused. Whats that all about. I watched a small portion of the practice. I think Ainge looked smoother. The Clausen name makes my palms sweat, but he did do really well in the Cotton Bowl.

Was it just me or was Britton Colquitt booming some serious punts

That's what I was trying to figure out. I couldn't really tell what yardline he was punting from..

I don't know but, after seeing how Dustin affected the outcome of ALL our close games over the last couple years. I’m sure glad we have him for the next four years.

Seriously the Colquitt family deserves some serious respect from us Vol fans.

talk about "having your back"

How about a street named after them? UT owes a great deal to the Colquitts, as well as the Clausens if Fulmer lands Jimmy.

A dead end would be appropriate.

Colquitt’s corner has my vote.

You’re right about the Clausens too. I gave Casey no respect, but now ever time I watch the 20003 comeback kids DVD I realize how wrong I was. UT owes a lot to the Clausen family too. I hope Rick stays on as a coach of some kind, he’s a class act and never lost focus of the game, even after playing second fiddle to two freshmen.

I agree about Rick: class act.

Amen Brother, I hope he stays on as part of our coaching staff, it would be a shame to let him go, you’d be hard pressed to find a less selfish individual with as much desire to see us win.

Rick will start.

As much as I hope so, I think Phil will go with Ainge, and I hope he's right and I'm wrong.

And I hope I'm right, and you're wrong, and Phil's right, and Beltway's wrong, and. . . .

oh forget it.

I'm telling you boys.  I've been calling it for MONTHS.  It's gonna be RICK!

I don't know. I am glad Fulmer has to make the call and not me.

Yeah me too, I respect Rick Clausen, but I'd like to see Erik Ainge rip it wide open too.

I agree. Really if Ainge has progressed the way he should have then he will be the starter.

If Ainge progresses the way he should , we'll be smelling roses come January.

I understand how it comforts people to have a QB with the knowledge of Rick but Ainge is not a dummy by any means. Not only is Ainge talented physically, but he is talented mentally. This is why I think that he's going to get the nod. He spent some time in the summer with Peyton, I'm sure Peyton was preaching about watching the film and being a student of the game. We'll see I guess.

I certainly hope that you people aren't gonna piss and moan when/if Rick IS named the starter. I really hate when Tennessee fans question every move Fulmer and staff make. I would be fine with Hardegree starting as long as we are winning. I know some people though that would come on here and go on and on about how "if PHil would just listen to me, and start Ainge, we'd be winning by 100 instead of 50". *sarcasam off*
