After watching the video several times, including in slow-mo, I noticed a few things. First it appears he drove deeper and wider entering the turn, and you can see oil dry dust kicked up from his tires. This got him loose, and then he overcorrrected (hard not to do at 180-190 mph) When he impacted the wall, in slow-mo you can see the car turn just enough to the right to avoid a completely dead on head on hit. I believe this slight angle helped lessen the impact letting the car glance away just enough to avoid an injury. Also, the fuel cell was thrown out of the car when the rear swung around and hit the wall which may have prevented more fire. An amazing thing when you consider that was the secondary impact, making it seem the initial one has to be one of the most severe there has ever been. Certainly it is the hardest anyone walked away from without any injury.
