Yesterday during a radio interview, Adams was asked what his takeaway from the Bama game was. He replied, " I learned that UT will not beat Bama again in my lifetime "

I hope is life insurance is paid up as he may have predicted his death sometime between today and the next year and a half.

That was a stupid thing to say. I have defended Adams plenty, but that comment was flippant and ill advised. Why say that? Here is why-- given how poor the KNS is doing lately, it's probably a desperate attempt to gain some attention for his column. As we all know, KNS has started making folks pay and I guess they didn't get quite the number of subscribers the had hoped to get. If he is the best writer in Ktown, things are bad.

He did go on to say that "as long as Nick Saban is there...."

In the rest of the interview he gave a lot of praise to Dobbs.

The thing is, all anyone will remember is his comment about beating Bama in his lifetime.

On the other hand, maybe he is doing the Vols a favor in a backhanded sort of way. CBJ is liable to kill him over those comments, so a win could be in the very near future after all.

Okay makes more sense. Still BS.

As long as Butch keeps recruiting at this level, we will get them.

People don't appreciate just how dominant Saban's recruiting has been and that this is by far the single biggest factor in their success.

And so, for now, at least, we are about even with them in recruiting for this year. It will take 2-3 classes at this level, make no mistake, but I think even next year in Neyland we give them a MUCH BETTER game.

You think Tennessee fans will be happier about the end of the streak or the EARLY CHRISTMAS?...lots of overloaded cell towers calling the obit lines :)

JA has always thrown his jabs at UT when given the opportunity. He is basically the ole ball coach of journalism in K-Town.

I agree, it was flippant and ill advised. I also used to think people were hard on Adams but as a previous poster stated they are low on subscribers and as they say "hate mail is better than no mail"

I disagree also with what he went on too say and that is I see no reason as to why it matters who is coaching at Alabama or any other school for that matter. It's been a long time since we've had a football coach at Tennessee and this HBC we have now has a passion I've not seen since Fulmer began to fizzle shortly after Tee Martin threw his last ball and half his staff went on to other jobs. That's the other thing: staff

CBJ has put together a staff that is on the same page, they preach a unified message and the players and future recruits are buying what they're selling. Hell, look at the way he turned around Michael Palardy.

I want Saban to be at Alabama and ol Les to be at LSU and bring in John Gruden to Vandy, I'll stick with Butch.

Sorry, so wordy....I just found these boards! :)

He's always trying to stir it up. KNS has more trolls than Middle Earth and now they want us to pay for that crap?

R.I.P. Adams.

I'll say this, if Butch continues to recruit the way he has been over the next couple of years, then it won't be long before we are competing with Alabama and the other elite programs in CFB.

For the most part, I like John Adams work. However, if fans take seriously things like this that he says, then you need to understand what his role is. He stirs the pot and tries (too hard) to make funny, condescending, shocking statements that will irritate fans. It's what he does and I am usually amused by it because I take it for what it is. I don't care when he says stuff like that.

Spurrier is extremely talented at his chosen profession. Adams is a hack. He honestly doesn't deserve to be compared to SS.

This will give me the opportunity to copy Mark Twain.

As he famously said, "I didn’t attend the funeral, but I sent a nice letter saying I approved of it."
