Did John Adams predict his soon to be death?

He does have a valid point referring to where our program is and how difficult it will be to get it to where it will be competative with Bama as long as Saban is there. Then again, one could say that about most of the programs in the SEC and nation for that matter.

Yesterday during a radio interview, Adams was asked what his takeaway from the Bama game was. He replied, " I learned that UT will not beat Bama again in my lifetime "

I hope is life insurance is paid up as he may have predicted his death sometime between today and the next year and a half.

Wow, because no team has ever fallen from the top to bottom feeder in a short period of time (ie Auburn). I will say with Nick Saban at the reigns the likelihood of them having that kind of slide is unlikely (although eventually the run will hit some speed bump). Evidently JA does not believe "Butch gets it"

and how many people thought that Urban Cryer's run would not end?

That was a stupid thing to say. I have defended Adams plenty, but that comment was flippant and ill advised. Why say that? Here is why-- given how poor the KNS is doing lately, it's probably a desperate attempt to gain some attention for his column. As we all know, KNS has started making folks pay and I guess they didn't get quite the number of subscribers the had hoped to get. If he is the best writer in Ktown, things are bad.

If you look up flippant & I'll advised in the dictionary there is a picture of John Adams

I haven't read a John Adams article in nearly 20 years. I only see his hearsay on these boards and that is more than I can take.

Details, details.

Much funner to take comments out of context.

It's still ill advised...so Butch gets beat by Saban with Dooley's recruits and in his first year, so he automatically assumes he will NEVER beat him...um k...that's sound intelligence

All empires fall at some point but when Alabama finally falls it'll be the biggest of them all.

Yeah they're talented, they're deep and they keep building but Tennessee isn't looking too far behind in the building process.

20 bucks says Adams comes on the radio tomorrow and states his comments caused a "trailer park frenzy"

but in all seriousness hell everyone should be happy he made those comments, forward it to CBJ, he pretty much challenged the players manhood and the coaching staffs ability to win a game of that magnitude or better yet if someone has it recorded send it to Butch to play on the sound systems during off season workouts.

KNS and all newspapers are dinosaurs. Very expensive and very little bang for the buck. Soon to go the way of the buggy whip...

If he is right, the next time Tennessee beats Alabama, we will not be able to read his "witty, intelligent, and insightful" column.

Can someone help me find the downside to this?

Death would put Adams closer to the age of the people that still read the Knoxville News Senseless

I hope is life insurance is paid up as he may have predicted his death sometime between today and the nex WHAT A WEIRD THING TO SAY. WE may be able to beat Bama in as little as 2 years, if we get a lot of breaks and turnovers.

Spurrier is extremely talented at his chosen profession. Adams is a hack. He honestly doesn't deserve to be compared to SS.

Go root for the cock Darth visor supporter. I don't care how great he is, he doesn't coach for the vols.

Butch's response should be: "And I learned that Adams will not have access to the Vol program again in my lifetime."

JA has always thrown his jabs at UT when given the opportunity. He is basically the ole ball coach of journalism in K-Town.

Any article written by the Ole Ball Coach would likely contain just as many jabs at UT, yet be vastly more entertaining. I would probably pay to read his work.
