I ask this over on the other side but got no answers.

My memory is that JG while he was being rumored here used his contact to recommend LaneK to hammy and other Tennessee folks.

Is that true??

My opinion is that is exactly what has happened or will happen now with his brother Jay.

No, we hired a search firm that gave us a shortlist, and Hammy picked Kiffin. We offered, he came and it's been downhill ever since.

I did hear he called Lane to ask if Tn job was good, and Lane actually had good things to say about Tn.

Where are you hearing this?

No inside info at all just putting 2 and 2 together. Sometimes my math sucks though so I may be far from correct.

Oci did state that jay was in play if Jon said no but his info means nothing to me.

Yeah, here's how that will go...

Dave: You want the job Jon?

Jon: No, but my brother Jay...

Dave: Sit on it Jon. [Drops phone and walks out]

I do believe someone told me he did not take Notre Dame job when it was open because he wanted them to promise Jay the job if and when he took another job.

The reason I think it's relevant here is I think he is doing the same thing now with his brother jay.

Kiffin was one of the top coaches avalible when we hired him. I don't get where people are saying he was a bad hire. I understand he screwed us when he dipped out but that doesnt change the fact that he was a great hire at the time.

In no way am I saying gruden should be looked at in a negative light because of it. I just want to know if my memory is correct. It sets a precedent for what could be happening now.
