Saw a show last night on Shoni Schimmel. Native American out of Oregon playing for UofL. Does anyone know if Lady Vols recruited her?

I don't think so. My neighbor was an assistant on the lady cards and I ask her that question. She was the first big time assistant to offer her, and said she was hidden out in the northwest. UofL signed her sister this summer.
I can't believe I know this much about womens basketball.

Does Native American mean that she's of American Indian descent or that she was born in America like most of us? I like the name, but Schimmel seems Jewish. Reminds me of Robert Schimmel, the comedian of Jewish heritage who died not long ago.

Name also has Dutch/German origins. She is native American meaning American Indian. Raised on a res where she learned to play. I can't remember UT recruiting her. I just looked at the box score for the Louisville game last year. She played 28 minutes and scored 9 points. Had 3 assists, 3 steals, 3 rebounds and 8 turnovers.

Glad they didn't recruit her. We have enough problems winning meaningful games without having a chic turn the ball over that much. They need all the help in the world, not a detriment to the team IMO.
