So says the Memphis coach of the high school player, however, the player was quoted as saying they (he and Sabatini) discussed his being a Miami Dolphins fan and then when they really started talking, he was liking the stuff Saybear was saying. How can just mentioning a player's name be a violation and this 'face-to-face' isn't a violation?

What happened was a violation. Sly Croom got a secondary violation for Chad Bumphis tapping Croom on the shoulder when his back was turned. All Sly did was say Hi. Saban pushed the limits on this one and had a conversation about mutual interests with a recruit he knew he wasn't supposed to have contact with. The media would be calling for Kiffin's head if this was a UT story.
