Today someone told me that it would count as an "exhibition" for former players to scrimmage against current players during an organized scrimmage. Griffith tweeted that Bradshaw and Maze played on the Scout team during Friday scrimmage, and Tennessee has two exhibition games scheduled. Can anyone confirm that this is another violation?

I had read recently that this is the first year that former players can actually scrimmage with their team. That could be wrong, but I think they are able to without any fear of violations.

You would think that by now there would be major consultation on the part of the compliance office in order to ensure that NO infractions occur.

I don't know the rules on this topic, but I'd be pretty shocked if we did something this publicly at this point in time.

Why do you post this on a public message board?? It's only going to hurt us because the NCAA will read this and use it as evidence!

Go Vols! Bruce is the man!

Let's show Bruce a photo of Bradshaw and Maze. If he can correctly identify them then we can let it slide.

FYI, Caladouchebag had 2 former players scrimmage with UK last week. Since they only have 10 players on the roster I guess they were actually needed.

Were any of the coaches there?
Yes they were but it wasnt an open scrimmage. If it was open it would have counted as an exibition game. You're only allowed 2 exibition games. Kentucky had a similar situation but it was their Blue and White game.

No they didn't. NCAA called before the game and said that the former players couldn't play. Louisville did let a former player at their scrimmage, so I'm not sure what the rule is.

If former players play in an open, advertised scrimmage at which admission is charged, then that counts as an exhibition (Kentucky's blue/white game).

However, former players are allowed to practice with the team on an occasional basis (Tennessee's Friday night scrimmage...just practice, no public advertisement or admission fee).

Not a violation.

I dont know the rule but I cant see this being a violation. Several of our former players are at the Finch Center when they come in town working out with the team.
