The Rose Bowl coverage was the most blatant display of favoritism I can remember. Herbstreit and Musberger are so far up USC's wazoo it's ridiculous. Since the game was 7-7 it's been nothing but a shameless, suck-up infomercial for USC - non-stop talk about how many draft picks they're going to have. A long interview with Keyshawn Johnson. Infinite kissing of Pete Carroll's a$$. Every single play analyzed from the perspective of USC's "greatness."

And then Brent Cheeseburger has the gall, with 3 min remaining and PSU with the ball, to laugh at PSU for trying to score again, saying that the fans "really want to get this down to one touchdown." Are you f-ing kidding me, you loser? They don't want to get it to one TD! They want to WIN THE GAME!

My god. USC has had numerous facemask penalties that the Disneyfied mouthpieces refuse to acknowledge. The juiced up headhunters take cheap shots, but Herbie and Cheeseburger say nothing at all. They just keep yapping about how wonderful USC is. And how great the Pac-10 is.

And just now the sideline reporter (Lisa) interviewing Carroll after the game said, "I know coach the game was pretty much out of hand, but..." Pathetic. Propaganda. They want a playoff. They want to prop up USC and show that they got "screwed." Because they won a home game. Against the #8 team in the country. Congratulations.

I was ambivalent about USC before this. No doubt they're a professional team with ridiculous talent in the shine of Hollywood. Now I absolutely hate them, thanks to Kirk and Brent and the shameless promotion machine.

Here's some advice to USC: play a game in weather colder than 60 degrees. And enjoy watching Florida and Oklahoma play for the national championship.

And that goes for Kirk and Brent as well.

You like how the preview commercial for the Rose Bowl said something like, "Everyone wants a piece of the Rose....All eyes will be on Pasedena."

ABC is the reason the rest of the country HATES the Pac 10 and Big 10.

They spent hours talking about how great 'this USC program is' and how the Pac-10 gets no respect from the rest of the nation and how we really should respect them for the great conference they are. Enough to make you heave. Lose the pucker, ABC. You've kissed the USC backside for long enough now.

Yeah, it was pretty pathetic. It made me feel sorry for the Pannsylvania kitty cats.

no,i loved every minute of it.big ten is overrated every year along with its teams. and i enjoyed goin to work this morning and rubbing it in over the beating they took. WE ARE! OVERRATTED!!!!!!

Did you expect anything less from espn/abc? I'll say this, that second quarter was some of the best offensive football i've witnessed from anyone in a long time. USC made a mockery of the penn state defense in that quarter.

I think Carville hits the nail on the head, blow the Rose Bowl up.

There should be no braggin rights for beating one of the Slow 10 teams.

(and that is why USC should be ashamed, it wasn't even competitive. edit- USC east).

the massive overhype of the Rose Bowl as THE bowl is what bothered me. The Rose is a bowl with ties to two lame conferences and had nothing to do with the title this year. Little more.

Even the Rose Parade queen was a disaster this year.

It was advertised heavily by ESPN and ABC because its the only major BCS game they get.

You think they're going to kiss ass on the games they don't get? I don't think so.

What burger said. The Rose Bowl is the only BCS game they have until 2011. So of course they are going to act like it's so much better than any other BCS game.

And no, they (ABC/ESPN) do NOT want a playoff since they got the Bull Crap Series back.

I hate the Rose bowl and their chair people, along with the reps from the PAC 10 and Big 10. The rose bowl is basically the ONLY huge hurdle to a type of playoff system, or at least a plus 1. They refuse to give up their PAC10 and Big 10 ties, which cripples the efforts to make the post season more playoff like. Can you imagine how incredibly irrelevant the bowl would be if USC wasnt a national power? Then you would have a crappy pac 10 against a crappy big 10 team. I respect Carroll a lot as a coach, especially after watchin the 60 Minutes piece on him....I dont hold the media hype against SC, but it was pretty ridiculous in this game.

On another note, Taylor Mays got screwed when he was called for helmet to hemlet contact when he absolutely killed #24 for PSU. The replays showed he clearly hit him with his shoulder pad, and laid out his team mate in the process as well. Helluva player, be he aint no EB!

Actually, I don't mind the USC asskissing. As a casual USC fan, it was quite entertaining.

They did the same thing in the 2006 Rose Bowl. Rambled on about Southern Cal's greatness and rich tradition the whole football game, giving us insightful facts about the University that not even the students care about. Did they say anything about Michigan? No.

I didn't get that either. Did he not realize that PSU scores and it's a whole different game? The whole "they want to make the score look better" was ridiculous given the situation
