I went to espn.com from my cell phone last night, and the "Did You Know?" was about us. UT is the first team to beat the #1 and #2 teams in the same season since 2001.

Very Cool... who did it in 2001 though? And how did they do in the tournament?

Actually, it happened twice in 2001 (from ESPN.com):

"The Volunteers are the first team since the 2001-02 season to beat the No. 1 and No. 2 team in the same season.

It happened twice that season:

• Oklahoma beat No. 2 Maryland on Dec. 21, 2001 and beat No. 1 Kansas on March 10, 2002.

• Maryland beat No. 2 Illinois on Nov. 27, 2001 and beat No. 1 Duke on Feb. 17, 2002."

OU and the Terps both made the Final Four, UM won it all.

That's kind of a weird thing to say, man. Sort of like if you were to say, "I'd really love to be a second team all-american." :)

I suppose 2002 is more accurate, but the note I read did say 2001. Blame espn.com. :good!:

Nice trivia, but Maryland was the best team in the country that year, and Oklahoma wasn't too far behind them. Tennessee this year is good enough to beat anybody on a given day, but it is far from the best team in the country.
