Well, no matter what happens the rest of this year and with our coaches, next year should be better! I hope!!!! :cross:

That is one thing I am not worried about. I don't see how it could get any worse.

I have been thinking fondly of last year's recruiting class lately. Some of those guys like Morely and Hardesty have already contributed.

I think CPF will feel more pressure than ever, so I am banking on improvement.

CPF and RS are still calling the plays, why would there be any different result. ND made the defensive changes late to stop our predictable play calling. :banghead:

It wouldn't matter if Bill Walsh was calling the plays. We don't have the QB or receivers to make plays.

Neither did Notre Dame last year.

Not at any lanes we'd care to frequent.

Why would you want them to? So we can lose to a crappy team in a crappy bowl. Cut your losses and get ready for next year.

..."next year will be better". Will it, now? How much better? 7 and 4? 8 and 3? 9 and 2? Another loss in the SEC championship? Another embarassment against Kansas State? Or Penn State? Sorry...but the only way next year will be better is to keep Chavis, and can the rest of the staff.

6 and 5 with the talent this team has is unacceptable. Period. Blame it on Clausen, Ainge, or Sanders if you want. Bottom line: Fulmer has lost his edge. Not that he ever had it to begin with.

If you follow the writers at the Tennessean, ESPN, Fox, and those who are capable of looking at UT with an unbiased eye, it's clear that Phil Fulmer is a great recruiter...and a below-average head coach. Take a look at his record against the "young guns" of the SEC, and it becomes clear. Take a look at his bowl record, and it becomes even clearer. Take a hard look at his record against bona-fide Top 10 teams, and the answer is staring you in the face. Forget the 1998 season...the leaders on the team pulled that one off. UT was three snaps away from an 8-3 record, and another trip to Orlando. Over his tenure at UT, Fulmer's record, unfortunately, speaks for itself.

Your ship is sinking, Phil. The only question is whether you're man enough to go down with it.

It's time for a change. Only then can anyone say "next year will be better", and really believe it.

Agreed that this is unacceptable. I am on the fence right now as far as CPF's future. There is no doubt he has gotten fat and happy lately.

I think that he will probably be judged on what he does with the OC position.

If he really wants to save his job he will turn the offense over and go back to coaching the OL.

You "6 and 5'ers" sure have a lot more confidence than I do. Right now, I'm guessing that at least one of the last three will go in the "L" column. Then what? That's right, ladies and gentlemen:

Cutcliff?  Is that you?

Cutcliff? No...and he's not the answer. UT needs new blood. Part of the problem is that this program has become "inbred", and thus lacks the killer instinct that is so necessary to succeed in today's environment.

We (I) are not fickle fans. But we do expect the level of performance (pronounced "success") that comes with a program with this tradition...this talent level...and this payroll.

Home games are multi-million dollar paydays for UT.

Earn it.

Hope I didn't jinx it when I hypothesized after the Georgia game that this team could go 5-6. Now they have to win out to avoid that. I think that's certainly possible, but you know Vandy and Memphis will be ready to play.

Here's something to ponder: what sort of odds would I get from Vegas at the beginning of the season on betting that UT would be playing Vandy in a game in which the winner goes bowling and the loser goes nowhere? It's a very distinct possibility if Vandy beats UK.

And even Kentucky, pitiful as they are, had Auburn on the ropes early today, and they had UT on the ropes last year as well, so I'm not even ready to take that one as an easy win.

My blood bleeds orange, and I'm going to be behind the Vols 100% as they fight for a (gag) bowl bid, but these are dark times, my friends. I expect all hell to break loose on campus if UT loses to Memphis.

Absolutely. I'm sure there are plenty of bowling alleys in and around K'ville. That would be a great way to spend your weekends during the winter months. I'm sure they even have TV's for those that want to watch football.... :shades:

i agree i think fulmer should step down. at this point i don't think cutcliff is going to save our team next year. we need new blood and fulmer won't have it, his lame offense doesn't work anymore. there are to many good coaches in the sec now tennessee is in trouble. next year when we finish 4TH in the sec east we will all be complaining again and nothing will change. other teams are getting better and we are going down the tubes. it's a fact.

I don't think that you have much to worry about. This team was jinxed long before that. :ermm:

:moon2: I think now is a good time to make some major coaching changes. It dosent look like next year is going to be a big improvment anyways! Lets get some new blood and a year in to get things changed around.

There is no way we are better next year. Half the offense and defense are graduating.

Losing 6 starters on offense and 7 on defense does not bode well. We are probably looking at 2 more years of this, and then Fulmer may actually have to start worrying.
