Do the details surrounding the Bin Laden killing....

Do the details really matter to you??

The fact that we lost a specially modded MH60, which was probably the most technologically advanced helicopter in the world, so that the Chinese can have it bugs the crap out of me.

Similar thing happened with the Hainan Island Incident directly involving the Chinese.

It seems, in both cases, the sensitive avionics and (I am assuming here with the helo) encryption systems, etc were destroyed. There will be data available to the Chinese but at least most of the helo was destroyed.

Honestly, I doubt anything they'll be able to find out through reverse-engineering is something they already don't know. The rotor and turbine designs are white-channel. Pretty sure an internal leak already revealed to them the stealth characteristics (thought this happened with the Russians in the 80s or 90s out of Skunkworks).

Some of you would know better than me.

What can they get from it after it has been demo'd?
How did they get ahold of it to begin with?

Details in themselves for the most part doesn't' bother me. The fact the WH can't get them straight though is embarrassing.

i trust the seals and their command. whether he was armed or not, it doesn't matter to me.

Details are fun and all, but, in the grand scheme of things, are rather unimportant.

The details don't matter to me. If this results in Obama getting re-elected when he otherwise would not have then the details bother me :)

i think by the time the election comes around this will be a faint memory. hell even i feel better about him TODAY, but we are a long ways away from the election.

no. I don't like that it happened and appears to be a pilot error. I don't like that the bad guys will get their hands on the actual materials for that modification.

I suspect what they will be able to usefully salvage from the wreckage will be mostly structural and would yield very little. It still sucks though, I would be willing to bet some of the materials used on the exterior were exotic and could be reversed engineered.

As I had said earlier, I'm sure the Chinese already know the chemical composition (I know the Russians do) of the coating from the F-117 as there was a leak at Skunkworks.

The structural design (angles, etc) are very close to the Comanche and the design of the rotors are already white-side from the Eurocopter. These were all technologies that have been in circulation for some 20-25 years now.
