Do the draftees show up?

I have enjoyed watching the NFL Draft for many years. My question is with the current state of affairs do the draftees stay at home to show their support for the Players Association?

I heard on the radio this morning that the player's union is trying to bar the draftees from being present on draft day.

Agree or disagree, Joe? If they show will they be treated lke scabs?

Scabs may be a little harsh, but I don't think it buys them any buddy buddy points either.


I've never understood why any would want to be there anyway, me personally, I'd rather be with some buddies in the bar of my choice with an open line of credit and a designated driver.

Joe Thomas, the Pro Bowl LT for the Browns, was fishing with his dad when he selected by Cleveland.

If I were invited to the draft, I'd go. The union is de-certified (after trying to lower rookie pay) and they are trying to take away the day I've been looking forward to my whole life? They don't represent me, yet. It's just a statement, too. I could understand if it would hurt the draft's TV ratings, but it won't.

I hope they show up. This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity, and to miss it would be assinine IMO. If I was a top 10-15 recruit, you could bet your ass I would be there. :thumbsup:

on one hand I'm ok with them not showing up, but on the other hand, that just means no player interviews and more airtime of Chris Berman jacking his jaws.

personally i'm not sure how it will work

they get drafted, called up to the stage, maybe get a jersey or a picture, and then immediately from that point on the owners, coaches, etc, can't have contact with them

During the draft, roger goodell is going to be booed and hear all types of horrible chants by the New York fans. He is going to be hammered. There are going to be protests outside. It's going to be chaos

Players Union doesn't want them to show up.....I would if I was going to be a top pick....JMO

This is logical They aren't union members at the time of the draft. Enjoy the moment and then don't do anything to help promote the team until it's over.

Exactly. And they couldn't be considered scabs since they've never actually taken the field, much less for pay.

trial balloon floated by the players. They gauged the reaction, which was almost universally negative, and they dropped the idea.
