I have never cared about what a Miami fan says. That program is done, stick a fork in them. And make sure to ask any fan of that team whether they actually went to school there. You randomly sample 100 of their fans, maybe 20 of them even know where the campus is.

In my experience there are very few "true blue" Miami fans. Most Miami fans fall into one of two categories: (1) People who want to get on the bandwagon of a percieved national championship contender. Watch to see if yoru co-workers start wearing OH St, USC or Louisville parapehnalia in the next couple of weeks and you'll know they are Type 1; (2) The second group are people who are from south FLA but have no real affiliation with a southern football team so they settle in on the Canes because Miami is usually decent/good and they are in the neighborhood. Many of the Type 2 group members are snowbirds. The frustrating thing about Type 2 is that they will readily change their alleigance to FlSt or UF at the first sign of trouble. It sounds like you are dealing with some Type 2s who have abandoned the Canes for the Gators.

I love when Gators pronounce the 'Canes as dead. You did it when Schnellenberger and Johnson left, then rekindled the nonsense when Erickson landed them on probation. The "U" will fire Ears and be right back on top in about two years. Just to remind you, Miami has had four different coaches win a National Title. UF, on the other hand, has only one coach who has won as much as a conference title. Try having some actual history and tradition before you go spouting off about who is and isn't done.

Your car would be set on fire if you left a Florida flag flying on it in the Tri-Cities. That's only about 90 miles from Knoxville. It's big time UT country. The only Miami fans I ever recall seeing vanished after Miami failed to appear in the national championship in 2003. As for Virginia Tech, I was under the impression the Hokies were pretty much disliked all around.

99% of Miami's fans are fairweather fans. The other 1% are still bitter from the '86 Sugar Bowl beatdown.

The people I hate are the coaches(fans) in the stands. Whenever something happens it's "God Fulmer! What are you doing!?" or "God Chavis! What was that!?" It burns me up everytime, so I just turn around and ask "Excuse me, what number is Fulmer again? I seem to have missed him on the field." They usually shut up....unless their drunk:p

I like people that are loyal to a team it's seems like you can trust them more. I have freidns that like diffrent teams but the theres some that are wishy-washy. Last October White Sox fans came out of the wood work, and was saying "yeah Ive always been a fan."

I hear you there! I live on the Iowa-Illinois border. Here it's either you like Illinois or you like Iowa. All talk crap about UT. I've met 3 Vol fans my 19 years here. One was a classmate, one was my line coach, and the other was some random person that came through McDonald's drivethru when I worked there.

I know 1 Michigan fan, 0 Wisconsin fans, 0 Northwestern fans, 0 OSU fans, 1 Florida fan (childhood bestfriend), 2 Western Illinois fans, and that's about it. The only way I get a SEC update is during the games, never on a local newscast. Pretty much sucks...

It's been awhile, but we've talked about this phenomenon before. You are referring to "The Guy". We've all had to endure games listening to "The Guy". If you haven't sat near and had to listen to "The Guy", YOU probably are "The Guy".

I must not know the people you hang out with. At D-B the majority of kids were very anti-UT, unless they were upper class preppies and went to games. The Tri-Cities has never been as strong for the Vols as it should be. I remember wearing an orange tie the day after we beat Florida in Gainesville and won the SEC East during basketball season, and most people gave me a blank look and said "5-6".

Keep dreaming. You must be terribly frustrated that, by the time you face the 'Canes again, Ears will be gone and the program will be back upon its rightful pedestal. How does it feel to not even be the historical power in your own state? For that matter, how does it feel to be third? That's got to sting.
