I know cot an wasn't a pure corner and that's why we didn't have a spot for him. However, with apparently our two other DB targets going elsewhere, do we offer this young man a scholarship again?

Then obviously the follow up would be would he accept or is he rightfully hurt?

I don't think he was dropped for these guys. I think he was dropped clean and neat.

If I was him I'd tell Butch to pound sand. Kid will have good options from teams that actually want his services.

A really bad cut imo, kid was a very fast athlete, how do you turn him away? He will be better than corker.

Would you go back to a job if you've been fired from it before? Probably not.

A little patience to all. I think we'll be just fine.

IMO you just get a new DB coach in place over the next 2 weeks and then keep recruiting the he'll out of Corker.

I think the cousin thing is overstated with him compared to the fact that he has no idea who will be his position coach at UT yet.

In light of the fact that our coaching staff is soooo bad, I think that you should transfer your fandumb to another team.:p

I think the accurate analogy would be: Would you accept a job from the people you wanted to work for, just because they didn't offer you the job when you first applied?

Of course. Why not?

And it becomes a win/win for everyone if he decides to use that as motivation, to prove he was the best choice after all.

I forgot that Butch was the only coach in America that drops players. I guess Saban is just a big jerk then. :)

How about let's just hire Terry Fair or another suitable DB coach now, if possible, and fire somebody after February?

If it was my dream job. If it is what I really wanted, then yes. With that being said, don't know if we were his dream school.

I will not blame him no matter what he decides and hope he has a tremendous career.

We still have other CB's to go after. Ameer Speed is one of them.

I like the kid, watched his film and he doesn't look awkward to be 6'4". I just don't see him being quick enough to play corner at that height in the SEC. He could play other positions of course, but I thought we needed a pure CB and a guy who can play as a freshman, which is why we let Cotman go. I believe we will be fine, but sure seems like the coaching staff really wanted to add one, which concerns me also.

There are a few others besides Ameer Speed. Check my recruiting thread in my signature for more information. Thanks!

Anything to make UT look bad, amirite?

No, you're wrong. This doesn't just apply to Jones....it'd be to any coach who handled my recruitment this way....I'd pursue my other options and tell the coach who pulled my offer to pound sand if he came back around later on just because he couldn't get the other recruits he wanted instead of me. Human nature imo. Thanks but no thanks.

What would you do? You commit to a coach/school that you're excited about and looking forward to being a part (his words) and then you find out that they're pulling their offer, via your high school coach.

If they then circled back around, after striking out with the guys they supposedly wanted in favor of you, with hat in hand and offered you again....what would you do? Just say, of course coach, I still trust you 100%, where do I sign? I don't think so.
