I think I've only seen 3 maybe 4 plays where our TE got the ball.

Are we just that FOCUSED on the run?

They really haven't had many opportunities, which is surprising. But depth does have a lot to do with it I'm sure, seeing as how it would be disasterous if Downs were to go down. He's our only reliable option ATM.

Brendan Downs has a couple drops, and also tripped over his own two feet on one play he was wide open on right as the ball reached him.

And he is apparently our best TE.

Does this help?

Branisel had a heck of a 4th down play against Georgia. Have they even thrown the ball his way since then?

Downs looked better last year as a true Fr though he didn't get many balls. Branisel made a huge play a few weeks ago on a pretty creative play call. He nor that play have been seen again since.

The TE's are underutilized and especially when you consider the WR struggles.

I do not remember drops by Downs but do remember the stumble.

it does make one wonder about the play calling,I think they should try to pass to the tight ends and spread the ball out more to the receivers and see what happens

it's usually North and Pig that get the looks as far as pass plays go,which there great receivers, but make the defense have to cover em all,of course there is no telling what will happen come Saturday

Ideally need to "have" a TE before you can use one. My last 2 memories of a Tennessee TE this season is of Downs whiffing on a block of Clowney right before he took one our RBs head off and of Downs tripping over a hash mark and falling down with no Bama player within 10 yds of him as Worley threw him a chest high pass. Not really feeling the whole "Do we ever use our TEs" question at the moment.

Downs and clear were in the 2011 class, Clear was # 2 player in the state was dismissed for theft.

Signed Justin Meredith in 2012 no longer playing due to injuries.

2013 class signed 2 TE's Branisiel and Woody Quinn. Branisiel is a Fr and Quinn played Volleyball before deciding to try Football.

The loss of Clear and Meredith has hurt the depth.

Basically we have Downs who is a jr, a Freshman and former Volleyball player.

Coming into this season Downs had 6 career receptions.

we desperately need at least one game changing te...and you know what totally sucks? we should have one. a former top espn 150 that redshirted and would've been in our system. but we're cursed...so he decided to steal a lap top and now he's catching passes for ta&m. just par for the course! hopefully it's changing
