Do we need another RB in this class?

Hubbs says we do. He says we need a guy who can touch it 10-12 times a game and could take it to the house anytime he touches it. He says Smith is not a gamebreaker who can take it to the house, and D. Young is not nearly big enough to carry it more than a couple times a game. He thinks we need another back in this class who is more physical than Devrin Young and more dynamic than Tom Smith. Thoughts?

IDK about more physical but we are supposedly looking at Kevin Grooms at RB.

I feel bad even mentioning this but we do have Isiah Crowell coming in for a visit. Very unlikely that it matters but who knows with UGA in meltdown and Bama loaded at RB. I'd say we have a 0.01% chance.

Absolutely UT needs another RB in this class. Young IMO will be a ST's guy and maybe someone you put in the slot or run some kind of special package for (assuming he's explosive in college).

Hubbs is absolutely correct on this one. UT has 4 scholarship RB's on the roster right now IIRC. That is NOT a deep group.

Where do we make room for another RB? Unless it's a can't miss guy, don't see how we make room.

It is a need just like the other needs. This class cannot make UT deep everywhere.

A couple of the guys they are looking at have potential at either RB or DB.

we need more, and its not because of Smith and Young, its because RBs from the past cple recruiting classes arent cutting it.

Oku has to find himself and Toney Williams is a shell of his former self due to injury.

**not to mention Bryce Brown being "depressed" (sorry Mfer)

That's what next class is for. Unless we can somehow win over Crowell, I think we are done. Buie is too much like Oku coming out of HS, and the in state talent alone has a couple of really good RBs, and then in 2013 we have Green.

RT @rivalsmike: Psu and Tenn now co-leaders for running back Alan Wasonga from WV, still think psu has edge.

Looks like we are looking at one more RB.

not sure we need 1 but Kevin Grooms from Florida is listed as an athlete but I believe we are looking at him as a rb, only a 3 star on rivals to those that worry about that but 4 star on Scout and ESPN I believe, sounds like we have a good shot

It never hurts to have more players that can score from anywhere on the field....and if this year has taught anything: depth is a good thing!

Bet he'd look good in an Orange Techfit!

Woohoo, I actually have some input on the recruiting board for once!! I have seen this kid play many times, he is from the town I live in, and my daughter cheers at the HS he plays for.
My good friend is the OC for his HS also. This kid is nothing but trouble!! Did not practice all summer, got caught stealing a car, and has had numerous run ins!! He just threatened to transfer to a different HS b/c he said he didn't need to practice with this team.

As far as talent, he is big, built right, and has very good explosive speed, hits holes well, but does not have a "second gear" kinda speed. He also has good lateral movement.
From talking to my friend, who is his OC, he would not even be on the 3 and 4 deep on several lower level schools he has offers from.

Oh, and lol on the 3.5 gpa, strings had to be pulled for him to be eligible!!
