Do you guys realize that even if we end up with a top 10 class

that we'll probably be 5th...or worse in SEC recruiting?

Honestly, unless we start getting some inhuman development out of these kids, we may be doomed to 3rd in the SEC East for a while.

Ill take 3rd in the East for a year or two...Can't rebuild fully without 4 - 5 years, 3rd's pretty good for now.

Oh the joys of offseason nothingness.

Lots of things can and will happen that change the dynamics of college football.

It's way too early to say that, IMO.

Georgia gets a top 10 class every year, but still underachieves on the field under Richt. While Florida will continue to get great talent, players like Tebow don't come around all the time.

If you gave me the choice between the 8th most talented team in the country with our staff or the 5th most talented team in the country with Georgia's staff, I'd take the former every time. JMO

True. But I like the ability of CEO, CMK, and CEG to coach up our players better than the coaches at LSU and Georgia. Georgia is going to ALWAYS underachieve. You can count on that...

CEO is also great at finding untapped talent. Just look at Ole Miss (McCluster, Hardy, etc). Those guys were not highly rated, but Orgeron found them, and Nutt took them and beat CUM and all his 5stars last year...

Recruiting isn't everything. Knowing the right kind of players to get, and being able to actually coach when the players get there are much, much bigger imo...

Alabama got smoked by Utah and I don't think the Utes were even close to Bama in the recruiting rankings. Coaching staff is peerless. Some team is going to get shocked this year book it.

Recruiting obviously isn't everything. As long as this staff develops the players, we'll be alright.

Listen, I think this staff is going to do great, but they haven't played a single down together as a staff. Lets chill out a bit. Also, Monte may go down as one of the greatest defensive minds in the Pro ranks, but he is having to adapt to a much different offensive scheme in college. I'm not saying he can't do it, but lets make sure we differentiate between pragmatism and wishful thinking....

We had plenty of talent in '01 but we didn't execute.

Talent while a huge part of success in college football is nothing without discipline and execution.

Peerless.

Raffles v Wichelhaus (Two ships named Peerless carrying cotton) -- A mutual mistake by both parties will result in no mutual assent. In other words, no meeting of the minds.

Sorry, its bar time and I can't get contracts out of my freaking head. I need a beer.

:clapping: I will take our coaching staff over any in the country right now. There may be a few staffs that are as good, but I will take ours purely for the excitement they are generating.

We probably won't see the top ten since we have such a great need on the O and D lines. Those players won't be ranked as high, but we are filling a need and improving our team.

You can only put 11 out there at a time. It seldom hurts and often helps to have great talent 3 deep at every position but 2 deep gets the job done with quality coaching and playcalling.

If UT gets hurt in the recruiting rankings this year, it appears it will be because of 3* OL's and DT's. Thing is... about as many of the great ones come in as 3*'s as 4 and 5*'s combined. Those positions are just very difficult to evaluate for the recruiting svcs.

I think the biggest X factor with the new staff is gameday coaching. CMK should be an incredible upgrade over Chavis. I'm not sure yet about the offensive playcalling but suspect they will have more workable options due to what they've done with the OL and system. IF the OL comes along, UT could look like Minnesota did on O a few years back in the run game. If they do then championships could come sooner rather than later.

Well done 3L, and good luck next week.

Kiffin deserves the benefit of the doubt for pulling last year's class without coaching a snap. With the season so close, it makes very little sense for the five star players to commit to the unknown when their questions will be answered in about 50 days.
