Boston College basketball players were caught shaving points? Do you think that goes on today in college football?

Probably not due to the shear # of players involved in Football vs Basketball

No. Too many games are televised and watched by many. The BC incident was before games were televised on many outlets.

It would be easier to buy a referee.

You are right there a ref could easily throw a flag or 2 to cover a 21 point dog, people would not think to much about it, if you won by just 14, you might be on to something, you would not have to do it but 2 or 3 times a year, nobody would catch on if you didn't do it week after week.

It might have been possible that Florida was trying to throw the game this year. But we showed them.

Thinking the same damn thing they tried to give the game to us, then we gave it back 9 years was not long enough, now sense it is 10, boy we will get them next year, been saying that sense I was 42, now 52 don't know how many more next years I got left to say that:thud:

I think that shaving points and/or fixing games does happen. It's not as easy to catch people as one might think. If you have paid off a QB just imagine the impact he could have on a game. I still say Neil O'Donnell threw the Super Bowl the year they played the Cowboys. He threw both those passes right to Larry Brown. They weren't even close to a Steeler receiver. Google "Neil O'Donnell Super Bowl conspiracy" if you want to research it.

harder to shave points off a football game by going to the players. Much easier to get in the pocket of an official to ensure every opportunity for a team to win the game. Flag here or there, bad spot, blown review of someone out of bounds, ect ect.

Besides, players are paid to come in and win in College, not lose. You don't pay a recruit to come suck unless you're Vandy.

Yea you are right, unless you get the right player. If you can buy a QB or even a kicker you can make an big impact. I have not seen a game since the Cowboys, Steeler Super bowl that I thought was iffy. Although It's hard to read officals some of them just suck like Wagers.
