There really isn't good reason to block her, so I would say she should be confirmed. On the other hand the democrats had no problem blocking some highly qualified individuals for little reason other than they wanted to play partisan hardball. Everything being equal can someone please explain how democrats could possibly be critical of any republican advocating blocking her confirmation?

Yes she should. For what it's worth, I also thought Roberts was a good candidate.

Well then, if she is confirmed and no doubt she will be with only token opposition, then we should play by her rules, if a congressman or judge or some other apparatchnik is shot, it would be very insensitive of us to call the shooter an assassin, we must only use politically correct and union approved labels such as 'hecho in Puerto Rico.'

Actually have nothing against Puerto Ricans per se, the first night I ever spent in NYC was as a guest of Puerto Ricans in Spanish Harlem, an uncle of the family had a huge night club and drinks were free, they love to have fun and made Greenwich Villiage look like a ghost town, it's just that Obama sure can find oddballs to nominate.

What do you think are legitimate reasons for not confirming a nominee?

murder...

I'd say so long as they are considered "qualified" to be a high level appeals judge then ideology (unless way off the chart) is not the criteria.

Elections have consequences. I think the Senate's role is to determine if she's qualified, not if she's who they would have picked.

She's received ratings of highly qualified by most if not all rating groups. She's been endorsed by virtually every law enforcement group. I don't like her "empathy" credentials and think it's a terrible way to pick a judge but don't see enough here to say she's not qualified.

I'm not saying she's unqualified educationally or from a experience perspective. I'm saying her blatant and unabashed re ord of racial bias disqualifies her for me.

Well then, I'd have to give her a big no.

Her character is severly flawed. Qualifications aside she should not sit on the bench.

Character matters. Character matters very much.
She is quite despicable you know, being an outspoken racist and all.

Remember Robert Bork?
