Dobbs had

The people on here that think Dobbs has a lock on the starting job are who crack me up...seriously? 3 weeks ago Dobbs was our NUMBER 3. Quarterback. My money is still on Ferguson starting game 1 next year. Dobbs keeps playing like he did tonight we may see Ferguson this season. I'd like to see Dobbs and Ferguson in a foot race. Anybody know their most recent 40 times? Ferguson is just as mobile as Dobbs, and throws a better ball. We will see.

Oh yeah RF throws a better ball because why? because you say so? Right. Does it really matter if RF can beat Dobbs in a foot race? All that matters is who grasps the offense better and who can win us more games.

I have seen both throw...Dobbs in this game and Ferguson on the Elite 11...Ferguson def throws a better ball...he was above Dobbs all season for a reason and after the poor performance with the turnovers and bad throws tonight, I can see why...also see why they are wanting to redshirt Ferguson and have him for 3-4 years...Dobby didn't impress me at all tonight...

According to you RF throws a better ball. Until we see him play, Dobbs is the man. Also by the time next year rolls around, Dobbs will have a lot more experience. We shall see. I think the telling thing will be if RF talks about transferring. If he does then that means he knows he could not beat out Dobbs.

Doesn't matter who did what at the elite 11, all that matters is Dobbs is our man now. As he matures into a better QB its likely RF will have to be some kind of monster to win the job. Especially if we go to a bowl game and Dobbs plays well.

I live in Charlotte. I have watched Ferguson play in HS repeatedly...while that doesn't make me John Madden...the "talent level of competition" etc. Has absolutely nothing to do with the ability to throw a football. You can either throw a 50 yard bomb and hit a man in stride...or not. You can either have " touch" on your deep ball...or not. He's got the best arm on our team and distanced himself from Dobbs since spring. I support Dobbs 100% as long as he is starting; and hope he lights it up. My money is on Riley coming out of spring the starter...when redshirts are no longer a factor. JMO. We will see.

Dobbs was less than impressive tonight. I've said it a few times lately, but a healthy Worley is our best option.

Dobbs did some good things, but he cost us a lot of momentum swings due to some terrible decision making. The only impressive thing he did was run, and one of those runs turned into yet another Dobbs turnover (fumble).

Sorry Dobbs needs to prove a lot more than "set the record of pass attempts since Tee Martin" or we need Worley back ASAP.

He's a freshman starting his first SEC game against serious competition and playing on a depleted team.
And for the record, he doesn't have a Harry Potter wand either. Neither do you or anybody else for that matter.

Dobbs was terrible. You guys are a joke.

He made far too many mistakes. I expect him to get better but he was bad this evening

Dobbs did not drop passes that hit the guys in the hands. And Dobbs did not play defence and let two recievers wide open in the end zone two times. And you expected Dobbs to get better you do know this is his first start right.:no:

Because I guess I have nothing better to do, I am making a list of the Dobb haters on here. It tells me a couple of things about all of you. Either A, you guys know absolutely squat about football or B, you just can't stand to see the "black" guy in at QB. Given my short time and experience reading dumb posts here on volnation, I believe this is mostly due to A. Our offensive line played horrible tonight because Mizzu has so much speed on the DL. It was a horrible match up for us in that respect. Dobbs, had to get rid of passes quick all night. Our WR's dropped passes all night. As a true freshman, are you kidding me??? He runs the read option incredibly well. He is our future guys barring no major injuries. Get used to it. Believe me, coaches were very disappointed with our team effort last night, but I can assure you, they are excited about our young QB, who by the way, was recruited by Jones,,, Ferguson was not.

Yeah that's ignorant. Unless Dobbs becomes a world beater he's just keeping Worley's seat warm for him.

Based off the two games Dobbs has played in, I see no reason why Worley would be the starter again if Dobbs stays healthy. Dobbs , without argument I would hope , has by far the greatest upside and hasn't played any worse then Worley has at times up to this point.

So, if one does not blindly have faith in Dobbs, that person has a 50% chance of being racist?
Okay...

Here we go again. Why don't both of you talk to Condredge Holloway about racism at the first Cracker Barrel on I-75 heading towards KY? That way you might get some serious insight and spare the board yet another racism spiced thread.

I was just making sure that I was clear on his statement. Furthermore, I will discuss whatever I damn well please as long as it is within Freak's rules.

Okay...

Reread my post.

I said "Either A, you guys know absolutely squat about football or B, you just can't stand to see the "black" guy in at QB. Given my short time and experience reading dumb posts here on volnation, I believe this is mostly due to A"

Meaning that most of the Dobb haters are idiots that know very little about football. The reason I threw in option B, is because they do exist. I was at a football party and heard a couple of vol fans say "black guys don't make good QBs". Yes, racism does still exist amongst vol fans.

I personally don't care if the quarterback is purple as long as he gets the job done. That being said, I won't blindly have faith out of mere desperation.

How people can say they would rather have Worley is beyond me. Dobbs has a quicker release and can run the read option much more effectively. Accounting for virtually all of the offense's yardage isn't too shabby either.

I don't think I would rather have Worley over Dobbs at this point in the season, but earlier in the year I would have said that. My main thing has been with those who take every opportunity to hate on Worley. Dobbs dealt with many of the same issues tonight as Worley. Dropped balls, bad routes, and throwing a pick while being hit. I just hate the way Worley has been bashed, more than anything.

I think Dobbs has a great game versus Auburn. I am not familiar with Auburn much, I just hope their pass rush isn't close to Mizzou's

And lets not forget Dobbs had 2 almost TD passes. One dropped by Smith and the other was missed by North.

Dobbs announced his arrival tonight.

By badly overthrowing North and others, by throwing two picks and fumbling. I sure hope he hasn't arrived.

Agree, but Worley has a slow release and was constantly under throwing receivers. He also never ran the football. This is a "read" option offense. You have to keep the defense honest. Dobbs does a good job of reading the DE.

I like Worley on a personal level. Seems like a great kid and I really wanted him to do well this year, but unfortunately his time is over as a starting QB at UT. It's time for vol fans to get behind Dobbs now.

He wasn't terrible. He made some freshman mistakes because he is a freshman. He will get getter. There's no sense arguing over Dobbs v Worley since Worley us out.
