Dobbs looks promising... Everyones thoughts..

Anybody that understands football could see that Dobbs has so much more upside than Worley. I appreciate Worley's resolve and toughness, however, Dobbs looks more comfortable, has a better arm, is more elusive and doesn't stare down his receivers. Plus, he was a true freshman playing his first game on the road vs. the defending National Champs and the #1 team in the country and didn't get rattled.

Finally we might not be so predictable and actually run the read option... and he has a better arm in my opinion

Just about to start a thread like this. I feel like Volnation has been right about this one. I feel like he looked like a play maker today, and Butch probably tried too hard to save his redshirt.

He does have a rifle of an arm. Played pretty well considering he got thrown into the hottest game of the year against the best team in the country.

He looked good and definitely has a stronger arm. I am a Worley supporter and think he doesn't deserve as much crap as he gets, but I will say there is much more upside with Dobbs. The question remains if Jones will roll with him for the rest of the season.

Will get the Vols into the Cheggerboards soon....Bob K.

I'd say things are looking good for the young man.

Why not?? We have options now! Tuck it and run if you have to. Made a bad throw or two but a couple of drops too. I thought I seen the sideline right before he went in get excited, I cant lie I was too. I do not think a bad performance from him will be any worse than worley. If he's our guy lets see how he can step up and be our QB

Bummer, Butch must not understand anything about football as it took him this long to play the QB with more upside. All those practices. Just when I thought we had a coach......

I'll bet Saban even knows that Dobbs will be the QB for the next few years. Probably studying tape as we speak. Consider the stage that Dobbs played his first collegiate game on. You know that stadium was nuts and the D smelled freshman blood. I was impressed.

You're just making yourself sound stupid. That's not what he said

We are definitely a better overall team with Dobbs on the field. He is a legitimate threat to keep the ball on the read, and he can scramble out of trouble and make a play.

No attack on Worley intended here--but he just ain't got SEC talent. It's one of the cold hard facts of playing any sport--there's just guys out there who are better!

Worley does make a few plays here and there, and maybe his thumb was a bigger factor than we all thought. Also, #85 fell down instead of catching a pretty well-thrown ball for a 20 yd gain in our first series today that would have been huge. But--BAMA just whipped our butts today in EVERY phase of the game--and it wasn't even close!

All that aside--DOBBS does give us the best chance to win the rest of our games, and it should be obvious to everyone.

Please--Please--WE NEED DBs and LBs in the WORST WAY! GO VOLS! :salute:

The only thing I didn't like is that he shows the ball too much on the handoff.

I'm gonna trust Butch when it comes to football decisions. However, many athletes are gamers and may not impress in practice. This kid may be was of those gamers. He definitely looked cool under pressure and not at all rattled for a true freshmen.

NO ONE knows how a player will perform on the field...until given the chance...see Joey Matthews and Nathan Peterman...it's all a crap shoot until then..I believe Butch's plan and hope was for Worley to continually improve and stay healthy and physically and mentally develop the two freshmen...well that's out the window...early on I favored Dobbs but I bought into the groundswell behind Riley...and I still haven't counted him out...both of these guys have star quality, I can only hope we get one more season to make that evaluation ...later rednecks :)
