Dobbs Speaks

Going back and reading that I think I may have jumped on that the wrong way. If I did, I apologize for snapping at you man.
Don't worry about it bro, I acted a little thin skinned myself. We're all on the same team up in here. Maybe all the losing tends to make one a little snippy. Hopefully we're headed in the right direction with the new regime in place. Go Big Orange!

He seems like a good kid. I'm sure Butch wishes he could have avoided adding the extra pressure of being the starting QB, but it sounds like Josh will be a good example (if nothing else) of how to conduct yourself on and off the field. Frankly, the academic record of our team has been historically poor so it's nice to see players like him who clearly take it seriously. I have no doubt that rubs off on the other players even though he's only a Freshman.

Forgave and forgot about bro. Heck I'll take it as an excuse:) My fault though. GO VOLS.

what did you expect him to sound like?

Are you just looking for something to get pissed about? My God he gave the guy a compliment by saying he sounded intelligent and well spoken and you're still going to ***** and say what did you expect? Well maybe he didn't expect anything and was happy to have someone who represents the teams so well at such a young age.

Smart is a understatement since he has a 4.0 GPA in aeronautical engineering...WOW!

Thet's even more impressive since he's also busting his butt trying to learn how to become a great SEC QB.

When does he find time to sleep?

#BrickbyBrick...VFL...GBO!!!

Someone said at night when all the lights were off they looked up and seen his light on and he was studying. You know that's gotta be rough.

Seems like a very proper, well spoken young man.

ETA: He's certainly smarter than a lot of us lol

"I enjoy math classes." When's the last time you heard a starting QB say THAT?

Hes like a football jeremy linn....

Playing college football in the SEC and maintaining a decent GPA or even better a superb GPA, AND also taking a difficult major is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT add to that the challenges of fans who critique every second of every play and all layers of skin tissue when you speak publicly and then you have an ENORMOUS challenge for a 19 year old. It would seem that he, his parents, his close relatives, and his closest friends will grow to be more tuff skinned by default. WOW. I sure couldn't do it. I admire him greatly!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the kid isn't extraordinary. Because he is.

But as a freshman, he's not taking ANY aerospace classes yet, so it's not accurate to say he has a 4.0 in AE. He won't get any true aero until AE 201 (seminar), or AE 341 (fluid mechanics). Right now he'll be enrolled in the EF (engineering fundamentals) program, and is probably taking a fair share of calculus, English, and chemistry.

Just to be clear, I graduated AE with a 3.1 in 2008, so as far as I'm concerned if he maintains a 2.5 and is the starting quarterback, he's extraordinary. We're just not there yet.

We're on a sports message board and it's not your job to determine what everybody should discuss. JMO.

A SPORTS message board...not a EXAMINATION OF A PLAYER'S APPEARANCE message board. Put yourself in his shoes, man. Just because we can talk about anything here doesn't mean we always should.

There should be a new forum for this. It'll include the uniform discussions, as well as a thread for every former, current, and future player, that way we can betch about how they look to our heart's content!

I get the impression he was able to test out of a lot of the early stuff due to AP exams. He's probably in Calc 2 and I would be shocked if he has to take English.

Don't disagree. But all the EF classes, and a ton of ME classes, are prerequisites for even the earliest AE classes. He may be in the Seminar, but it's a pass/fail class, and you pass by attending the lectures.

Semantics at this point.

I keep having people tell me he's in Aeronautical Engineering.. there's a difference folks. He's in AeroSPACE. He likely won't see any true AE classes until late in his college career so at east we know he won't go pro early.

Well just when I go and think I can't feel worse about myself as a young thirty something man I watch Dobb's interview. That kid is destined for greatness. What a sharp guy. Selfishly I hope that UT football is apart of his big accomplishments. I really think we have some guys on board who we will be proud to call VFL's.

This guy is like a robot that is programmed to say all the right things. Very impressive young man. Bright future for him in football, or elsewhere.

Or he is a highly intelligent kid that conveys his thoughts well enough to appear "programmed". His Harvard offer and perfect GPA pretty much validates this statement.

I remember hearing him on Ainges show. Probably gives on of the best interviews I've seen. Very humble and bright kid.
