Dobbs to start against Mizzou!

watched Mizzou for the first time and this is the very first thing I noticed. Probably the fastest front four I seen this year, in the SEC. That being said, I also notice that they over pursue, a lot...are extremely aggressive as well. SC exploited this with timely called screens. They seem to be on the smaller side in regard to size and what we are used to seeing in the SEC but this front four sheds well and they are one of the best recovering dlines I've seen so far, they pursue well.

One thing we know is that our line can protect the QB and pass block. Advantage to us in size and experience. Think with Dobbs we will be able change up play calling more.

seems kinda weird that the decision is already made since bUTch said the decision would be made after this week's practice

The worst decision, is the one not made until the last minute. Get it out to the players so that they know and Dobbs gets most of the snaps. Less confusion, drama and chaos. The team can get some momentum and hopefully rally around the young pup.

Need to focus on defense pressure and coverage. I don't think it is to our advantage if we get into a shootout.

for a select few that might be the case...90% of QB's need the redshirt...100% of them will be better their 1st game after a redshirt than without... especially if you have a serviceable QB to begin with...Jameis Winston,Manziel,Mariota, all redshirted... If Colquitt had not gotten hurt,I think Peyton would've RSed as well...

Agreed...its definitely not what you want and isnt ideal but also QB's today are so much better prepared because of the offenses that they run in HS now and all the various camps that they can learn from.

Definitely not. Our Secondary does not match up well against Mizzou's WR's. They will abuse our corners and safety's. Just hope we can get to Mauck and not give him time to get the ball to them. So far he hasnt proved to be very accurate and lives by the big play. But that scares me because we are prone to give up big plays in the passing game. Ala had WR's open all day and Mizzou has better Receivers than Ala. I really am not sure our D can stop them very often, hope I am wrong.. UF has a ton better secondary and Mizzou abused them.

James Franklin could return to top of Missouri’s depth chart soon - KansasCity.com

Not sure which I prefer. I suppose I like our chances better against Mauck than Franklin. Or it could just be smoke screens from Miz.

Did anyone else see how excited all the TN players were coming out after the half Knowing that Dobbs was getting his chance.. Josh Dobbs seems to be the popular vote among the players.. He must really shine in practice.. Anyone else notice the players excitement after the half or after Dobbs big run and his completions?

Sorry but Missouris WRs are not better than Alabamas. Missouri just throws more than Alabama.

Here is a dumb question? Is Dobbs' Redshirt burned by playing the second half against Alabama? I read in one of the forums that if he doesn't play 1/3 of the season then he can redshirt. I thought the minute he stepped on the field his redshirt was gone. Can anyone clarify which it is?

I think once you play your RS is burnt. I may be wrong though.

A few years ago, a freshman db for LSU was inserted into the lineup during the SEC Championship Game due to an injury....hadn't played all year...Redshirt-Burned...no chance that was 1/3 of the season

Once you take a snap the red shirt is off.
The 1/3 rule only applies to a Medical Red Shirt.
Dobbs likely starter, with Peterman as 2nd string.
Peterman has missed to much practice otherwise would likely start.
Also, Peterman is in in the same boat as Franklin .. Unknown if fully healed.
There are legal reasons that info cannot be fully disclosed.

If this is true, Worley has been a very gutsy player for us. My hat is off to him and I hope he gets well soon.

With that said, Dobbs did well against Bama and I am excited to see him get his shot. I am excited to see CBJ's offense with a running QB. I am excited about the program in general at present. That seems to be the feeling the fan base in general has...excited! It's like the Bama loss didn't even to phase most folks.

It's been to long since the fans have felt this way about Tennessee. GBO!

Agreed on Worley. Kid has played above expectations at times this season. I remember him playing against Alabama when Bray went out. I thought he never had the confidence to play in the SEC. However, Worley is a class act and will always be a VFL.

Last year, ranked 23rd, against Florida. I was extremely excited and thought it was the year of the Dooley.

Butch is different though. He is simplistic, which is key to his success. I love his passion and ambition for success.

Let's hope Dobbs plays lights out Saturday. I am overly encouraged about his play against Alabama. I love a mobile quarterback.

I really hate this happened to Worley. Patient, hard worker with thick skin. I hope he bounces back quickly.

That said, Dobbs looks promising and had good composure in the pocket. I would like to see Butch slowly open the play book for him as he progresses. Don't want too much too soon. I think that "might" have happened to Peterman. Or he wasn't ready for Butch's offense.

I hope he's firing on all cylinders when we play Vandy. It would be great for us to have him as QB and roll all over Franklin.

I just watched the replay of the game....I think everyone sees the potential. Dobbs threw a long ball and it was a bomb....quick release and I think it surprised everyone. Danielson, and Vern but shouted "OH MY" when he let it go. Although it wasn't caught because of the coverage it was a thing of beauty. I haven't seen that all year. Love Worley's grit, but Dobbs has big time talent and is the future. Explosive plays it was we have been missing. Very dynamic.

He can't be redshirted this year. They can still redshirt him later if they want to.

wish Butch would have kept this one a secret until game time.
If Worley has an MRI on it and it's discovered to be ligament damage, I don't know how you cover that up, as a coach. Usually becomes public knowledge right away.

Why is the reporter anonymous?

Cause they threw it at the wall and it stuck. Reporter probably heard rumors and just ran with. Has anyone else reported it?

I would think that butch would wait til Friday or Saturday to announce just so mizzou would prepare for both.
