Dobbs to start against Mizzou!

A few years ago, a freshman db for LSU was inserted into the lineup during the SEC Championship Game due to an injury....hadn't played all year...Redshirt-Burned...no chance that was 1/3 of the season

The 1/3 of a season comes in the case of a MEDICAL redshirt. If a kid plays less than 1/3 of the season before a season ending injury, then he can get a medical redshirt. I'm not certain if this can only apply to a freshman or for upper classmen as well.

Did some of you watch the game??? Dobbs was CLEARLY better, didn't get rattled, and the offense opened up. This is not a "well, if that's all we've got" situation. Dobbs is a much better QB than Worley right now. Get excited. We've already seen what he can do.

I'm really excited to see what Dobbs can do. He is extremely smart and agile.

I agree and he seems to spin the ball better, with more accuracy and velocity. He actually looks like a spread read option QB! Definitely a throw first guy but looks like he is a 4.6 guy, which we need a fast QB running the read option effectively.

Butch isn't saying who is starting which is smart coaching. Let Mizzou figure out who to prepare for we may even put Ferguson in there.

I agree. It puzzles me why we don't run more screens. I mean with Neal, Lane and Pig we could be very successful. Now I know none if our RBs are quite as good as Mike Davis but they are good enough to run screens well. Especially since we have a very good O line.

Our WRs have to block in space for a good screen game to develop. It's gotten better the last 2 games, but their collective blocking ability is nothing to write home about...yet.

Did you see Missouri's pass rush against So. Carolina? They come fast.

Then you counter with screen passes and gash them with up the gut running game and inside screens.

One of the professional critiques I read on Sam described a tendency to over pursue and get caught out of position.
Sam is their best defensive weapon.

If they cheat....burn them!
I am excited to see I'd Dobbs can pick up the blitzes and catch them when they do.

So if Dobbs is indeed starting this weekend, what if he goes out and pulls a Peterman vs UF? Will everyone turn on him too?:ermm:

I personally do not think he could possibly play that bad based upon the few plays I saw of him against Bama D, but ya never know!! Freshman, first start, on the road...

He's going to thrive in this offense. He has all the tools to be an excellent player, he just lacks experience.

Hell, our pass rush looked the best it has looked in 5 years against SCar's OL. We didn't get that much pressure on Austin Peay.

Butch has one of these, Smokescreen Baby!!!:rock:
