Anybody else watch many documentaries? I've been on a documentary kick lately. From religion, to drugs, to other countries, to cults etc. Doesn't matter if it's Vice or if its PBS. As long as the topic intrigues me, I'm down. Fwiw, some of the Nature documentaries on PBS are pretty damn good.

Anyways, has anyone seen North Korea confidential? I've seen North Korea undercover and all of the Vice documentaries visiting North Korea. I can't find North Korea confidential though. It's rare to get quality footage inside of North Korea if you can even get into North Korea at all so I'm intrigued by seeing more. Apparently the documentary I'm looking for shows that despite being a huge dump that's cut off from the rest of the world, they still have an Adidas store that Adidas probably doesn't know about and that was probably acquired through China as well as having American Cocoa Cola which again, Coke probably has no idea about. In the one documentary they showed how China has set them up with internet but only in a select places. It's basically run using dial up, they only have 1,000 IP addresses and other than the wealthy, poor people doesn't know it exists. Also, computers are near impossible to get, North Korea themselves only produce a few thousand every year. Computers are kept in police lock up and you have to get a permit/register it like a shotgun to own one. Only wealthy people are allowed access to the internet and the non-wealthy people allowed access to the internet because they need so to do their job, they're made wealthy. It's their way of keeping the people under control without having the army to do it. Anyone who knows the truth, you kill them or bring them into the fold while making them rich to keep their mouth shut. They constantly tell their people how the world bows down to them and would side with them in any war against America. It's like they're imprisoned without the shackles just due to lack of awareness as to what life really is like. Even the select college goers that are allowed access to the internet, they've set it up so only like 20 pages or so are allowed to be accessed, one of them being a site dedicated to rice recipes. Also, Kim Jung Il's dead corpse was placed in a glass box next to his father and his father is basically considered like a God there who til this day still runs North Korea as he had all of the answers.

So... yeah.... was just seeing if anyone knew where to find North Korea confidential because I really want to see it and also what are some other good documentaries?

Watch "Alone in the Wilderness". It's about Richard "Dick" Proenneke. One of the most fascinating documentaries I have ever seen on one mans life in the wild and him showing of his craftsmanship at about everything. Worth every second. If I browse by and see it on, I stop and watch it every time and there are very few shows that I want to watch over and over.

Well, vice is usually on youtube as well as a lot of that pbs nature programming. But there is a site called edited(which I'll probably delete after you've replied as long as it's not quote) and they just give you links to a bunch of video player sites called like vidbull, vodlocker, beststreams, daclips. They had fast and the furious 7 up the 2nd day it was in the theater. You do have to look at the quality next to the links though. If it has a dvd symbol, it's perfect quality. If it has a camcorder symbol it was taped in a theater. There is a third quality, I'm not sure. But yeah, they have literally every show and movie basically as well as most documentaries. Like if Modern Family airs, it will be online within an hour of airing. It's the way for every episode. Even UFC PPV's are up the same night/following morning. Heck, I was waiting on a lifetime movie called Cleveland Abduction that has actors from Orange Is The New Black and Breaking Bad, it's based on the story using Michelle Knight's account and what she went through for 10 years as a prisoner. I found myself getting annoyed that it wasn't being added, it took all of like 3 or 4 days to add and I found it annoying. That's how quickly they get stuff up and we're talking about a lifetime movie in this case which is all but assured of being poorly made and many people will never bother watching anyways. Anything mainstream is up immediately though.

No sir. Alone in the wilderness. He filmed it all , by himself, while he lived in the Alaskan bush for 30 years. It is awesome.

Sounds awesome.

I watched that one movie with Emille Hirsch, can't think of what it's called. Not a documentary but supposed to be based on a true story. Dude like gave up all his money and even his social security card to go off the grid completely and travel through the wilderness. It was a good movie from what I recall.

One thing you can rely on Netflix for is a wide and frequently updated selection of documentaries.

The book is written by Jeff Krakauer which is what the movie "Into the Wild" is based on. Great read as well.

I love all things documentary and true crime. A&E's Investigative Reports was my favorite show during its run.

I've seen Lisa Lings program about North Korea and read her book about her sister being caught and held hostage there.
It was fascinating.

I'm just adding Deadliest Catch, because to me it is a documentary,it isn't one of the reality shows ,which most if not all have a pre written script to them

Watched a documentary about Aleister Crowley. Possibly George Bush's grandpa(Barbara Bush's dad) and a satanist. Dude became pure evil while destroying the lives of basically everyone he came into contact with in his quest to become satan's version of a prophet.

His first follower, he flew them out to Egypt, he and the guy walked through the desert for 2 days on peyote and heroin. Being in an occult and practicing black magic, he made rings of fire and pentagrams using gasoline while saying satanic prayers. He would go on to basically rape his male follower in the middle of the flames. He said when he came, he saw a light or something and basically he had found what he's looking for. The follower having gone through that broke down mentally. Like everyone around Crowley did. It gets to the point where he makes a women have sex with a goat while other people watch.

He'd go on to move his followers into a culdesac of homes in a small town of 3,000 and the rest of the town had no idea they were an occult. They'd rape kids/teens of the followers as young as 11. A woman was 16 years old at the time said she was forced to go from house to and service all of the men. And when they'd get pregnant, they'd were forced to keep the child because it belongs to the occult now.

Also said he may have tried to mimic jack the ripper killings because he thought the locations of the ripper killings formed a pentagram. So there were a bunch of copy cat killings that formed a pentagram and they thought it could have been him.

Basically, this guy was all in. An anti-monk or nun if you will. He wasn't just going around doing evil things, he was fully devoted, traveling to places, practicing dark arts, draining his body physically and mentally by climbing mountains and wandering deserts, using drugs, putting himself through hell while using every evil practice he could in an attempt to open the gates of hell.

I knew Ozzy Osbourne's Mr. Crowley was about him but I had only read little into him other than that. The guy influenced a lot of people and celebs. Apparently the lead singer of Led Zeppelin(Jimmy Page) was a follower and because of it the band became followers too. Jimmy Page even bought Crowley's house. A bunch of bad stuff started happening and the band ended up blaming Jimmy Page for getting involved with Crowley and cursing them.

I will say, Barbara Bush and Crowley seem to share a resemblance more so than her and her supposed biological father. Her mother had gone to France with Crowley around the time she was conceived and her mother was considered to be kind of wild at that point in her life.

Saw an article about a documentary that was shown at the Cannes Film Festival. The documentary is about the child molestation that goes on in Hollywood. It's not going to be shown until June 2nd but the woman who did the documentary did one in the past called Deliver Us From Evil. They talk to victims of molestation by one priest in particular that was moved from parish to parish as accusations were made against him at every stop. There is is also a lot of footage of the cardinal who helped cover for him and the testimonies he gave.

All in all, I feel disgusted. Maybe even depressed. Listening to the victims who trusted these people and how they covered it up. This isn't stuff anyone hasn't already heard about the Catholic church but hearing it in such detail and seeing the outcome is saddening. The victims and their families are left devastated emotionally and in some cases, financially.

The Cardinal(Roger Mahony) who covered up molestation time and time again is still going strong over in Cali. He even prays for those who have humiliated him, as he's done nothing wrong and had no knowledge of any of it happening. That's a lie.

The priest(Oliver O'Grady) who raped a 12 year old girl, a 12 year old boy, a 9 month old baby girl and countless others. He got 14 years I believe it was but only after years of being relocated from parish to parish where he molested other children because it went unreported from the church or victims were paid off. When he was released, he was deported back to Ireland where he receives money from the church for not ratting them out and because they take care of their own. As the 12 year old female victim pointed out(now 40 in the documentary), he's free over there. He doesn't face any of the repercussions that other criminals face when released here. Being on probation you have to avoid the tiniest screw ups, see probation officers and do who knows what else. I'm not familiar with the ins and outs of what happens with criminals when they're released but I'm guessing Ireland doesn't recognize him as a registered sex offender since it happened here and not there. Basically, these two are roaming free as if nothing ever happened and seeing how smug and self-righteous they were, made my blood boil. Watching the one boy(probably in his late 20's now) standing outside the church he was raped in, giving his account... sad.

I have mixed feelings about religion and have never been able to say one way or the other if I believe in God. Knowing their beliefs though, that's some old testament rage I was feeling watching the documentary. It's disgusting how much they sold out their own religion, and to them, sold their souls. They act as if they're forgiven and righteous though, so no big deal to them. It appears these people are only involved with religion for the power and immunity. If the church is going to turn it's back and allow these things to go on instead of turning their back on their cardinals and priests who are doing these things, they're even more corrupt than the average human being. Instead of protecting future innocent victims from the sins of others(the others in this case being the church itself), they protect the sinners(themselves) and cover it up. That's rotten to the core.

Don't know if it's the same one I saw on YouTube but yeah...dude was messed up. Was a published scholar and poet who was set up financially real well by his family. He financed the cult and died basically penniless...but not before a woman let him impregnate her.

Just watched the Endurance documentary from National Geographic on Disney+. It was a great documentary that combined searching for the wreck, real photos and "moving pictures" and realistic reenactments.

Definitely recommend to anyone who knows the story already or not.

I love Documentaries, especially Documentary Series (except sometimes they do too many episodes). Some favorites:

Pumping Iron (the GOAT doc; legitimized bodybuilding, documentary film-making, and made Arnold a star)
An Honest Liar (about the Amazing Randi)
King of Kong (about a science teacher who tries to break the Donkey Kong points record)
Won't You Be My Neighbor (about Mr. Rogers)
Going Clear (Scientology)
Jim & Andy (Jim Carrey and Andy Kaufman)
