Is the coaching vacancy a bleeding wound, as far as recruiting and the fanbase meltdown, that needs be fixed quickly, or does the ubiversity take its time due to the season being finished and signed LOIs?

We can wait about 10 days. That's about as much as we can though./

There will not be too much time due to numerous vacancies. We need to get to work on identification of possible replacements and gauge their interest. I suspect, as Hat has reported, this has already been done to some extent. It is important for someone to hold things together and continue recruiting the current players as well as any players left on the board until the new coach is named. I would expect a new coach to be in place by the end of this month.

Yeah then maybe we can get a coach real quick. Ware and Jones is not gone yet. But the next basketball coach Hammy hires better be the right one. If he hires either one of these guys here or a big name coach i think Jones and Ware will be back.

Well I think we all know that we want Butler, VCU, and Richmond to lose this week. :p

"With all deliberate speed". Don't hire someone in haste but don't twiddle your thumbs too long.

Fanbase meltdown is NOT important.

Solid to Outstanding replacement IS.

Fans forget quickly once the winning starts. I posted a link to a "Fire Ted Thompson" website this summer. I went back to it the night of the Super Bowl, and the page administrator had written an apology to him.

I'm sure Ham-bone will find a fabulous replacement.

Is it really going to impress anyone whether Hamilton does it quickly or simply waits to announce whoever he's chosen to lead us back to the NIT?

why 10 days?

That gives us time to wait for the sweet sixteen/elite eight week to go bye and talk to ALL potential candidates, but we can't wait two weeks. We need the new coach to get accolamated to the program, current players, talk to potential recruits, and kids he wants now.

It needs to be done quickly and they need to hire the best man they can get. The fan base has nothing to do with it. They need to move quick or all the good available coaches will be gone and it will look like the Jerry Green hire all over again; which it may end up looking like any way.

No later than early next week or we might as well bring back Don DeVoe... who is a good X and O guy, just not a recruiter.

I would not donate or renew my season tickets for basketball. I know he was good scheming but he really crossed a line asking for Bruce to be fired at the speaking engagement. Not the place to present sour grapes for being fired years ago.

IMO a new coach will not be hired till after the NCAA rules on the sanctions in June so the new coach will know what to expect when they are taking over at Tennessee... Sanctions are bad = A lesser coach, Sanctions are minimal = Expect a big name like Lawrence Frank or a up and coming talent like Shaka Smart...

I would say again that the next presser for the new coach will be closer to the "who the hell is jerry Green" than the "here is the big fish" presser. Timing is all wrong due to AA sanctions.
