does anyone know why Jalen Reeves-Maybin was in a air-cast?

When CBJ introduced him? Is surgery part of the recruitment "package" to individuals that come to Tennessee? I know if players get injured while practicing the medical bills are paid for, but I didn't know they could get surgery even before practice begins.

It's a ring of connective tissue deep in the shoulder socket that helps the humerus (arm) fit snugly in the joint. It's a pretty common thing to tear and usually just requires some cleanup.

I actually just returned from the Doctors office where I was informed that I have a torn labrum...however this one is in my hip.

I'm thinking you probably have a labrum in your shoulder too but it could be either or.

He was hurt badly enough that he had to relinquish the starting QB position because he could not pass. He did not practice between games because impact was too painful. On offense, he played RB/receiver. He continued to play defense by just gutting out the tackles. His coach kept saying he could not heal while playing, but he wouldn't quit on the rest of the team.

Anyone know recovery time on the injury? Weeks? Months?

I had the same injury from playing softball. I had 3 month of rehab to get full range of motion and strength back. Of course I was 40 at the time, so he may heal quicker.

Derrick Reese had the same issue. At first there was talk about redshirting him. However, I believe he was playing significant minutes on the BB team 2 to 3 months after his surgery. Of course, basketball is not nearly as rough as football, so I don't know how soon he will be released for hitting. As a precaution, I think he'll be getting some reps in the spring, but probably only as non-contact.
