RE: cbp does anyone know if this is the same thing ralph spamson did at oklahoma and Indy? they ran him out of town. i really hope bruce survives this. i think he has done a lot to bring tenn. into the national limelight, positive and now negative.
Pearl will be fine. His reputation is going to take a ding, but he'll finish his career here.
Lost in all of this seems to be the fact that Pearl himself initiated the second meeting with the NCAA only 3 weeks after his original summer meeting to come clean. That much can be confirmed with the NCAA themselves. There seems to be some misinformation by the doomsayers on here that he only came clean when the sh*4 hit the fan. That is when he PUBLICLY came clean. The NCAA already knew because he had already told them.
I think should have been given a raise rather than have money taken from his salary. It only took him 3 weeks to learn that you need to tell the truth all the time, not just part of the time. He is obviously a quick learner and reaks with integrity.
Hey wiseaz. Where in my post did you read that what he did was honest or that he doesn't deserve punishment? He is getting exactly what he deserves. Even when we accept our mistakes there are still consequences. You make it sound like I want to build a statue. All I said was that he'll survive the scandal. Douche.
Here is what Sampson did to get the boot...
1) Made excessive calls while at Oklahoma and lied about it, minor sanctions (1 yr post season ban, lost a scholly or 2)
2) Sampson hired by Indiana, made excessive calls his first year and LIED about it, IU warned and put on probation.
3) Made even more calls his second year, again LIED about it while on probation!
4) Sampson got the boot from IU, NCAA handed down sanctions of 1 yr post season, some probation, and lost 1 or 2 schollys for a year)
5) Never ONCE did Sampson apologize for lieing to the NCAA...EVEN AFTER HE WAS CAUGHT
With Bruce coming forward and admitting his mistakes early, I think UT gets...at the most...1 yr post season ban, probation, and maybe 1 scholly lost.
