how bad Syracuse has been in the NCAA tournament historically?

I think they have gotten past the sweet sixteen only threes times since 1989 (1989, 1996, 2003). Comparatively they are really behind the other "elite" school - Kentucky has been 8, Duke has been 10, UNC has been 11, Kansas 5.

Why is Syracuse so weak come tourney time? Any implications toward this season?

Unless they run into a really bad matchup (or are distracted by the latest drug allegations), I think this year's squad is too talented to not make it past the sweet 16.

I wonder if the Big East Tourney has anything to do with it - I remember their epic 7OT game a few years ago...maybe not but it's a thought. It seems like every year the Big East gets 10 teams in who all lose in the first weekend... Cuse needs to avoid a good 3PT shooting team who can shoot over the top of that zone and they'll sail to the sweet16

It doesn't seem at this point that anyone team is the clear favorite but Syracuse seems like a team witha great shot at sweet 16. It hurts to say this but this might be Ky year to win it all if Coach Cal stays out of the way

I think UCONN just REALLY likes Madison Square Garden. 5 games in 5 days is pretty amazing and they are already 2-0 this year. They should get the epic beatdown today though. Cuse way to talented not to make it to at least the elite 8.

I could see Cuse getting taken down in the S16. They're an awful rebounding team and get whipped on the boards fairly often.

Vegas would disagree.
