I realize up front that it is a long shot, but does anyone think that they NCAA may have simply used the Newton case to work out letting USC off of probation?
You know USC will be using it during the appeal case... I would imagine the NCAA couldn't stand to see its cash cow (USC) sitting at home during the bowls.... I would think they (the NCAA) has provided themselves an "out" now... The can claim they really dropped the hammer on SC & they can also claim that they had to let them off as RB didn't actually know about it... Baiscally a win/win for the NCAA..
I just wonder though if they would do it on purpose or if they have given themselves an "out" by accident...
I think most can agree that the NCAA is all about the money and you know ESPN is going to push for USC to get back into post season play as they want they revenue from UCS's 1st bowl game after probation.... That will be a huge draw for ESPN and ESPN's advertising department...
