that we are ranked number 24 on rivals for the recruiting for next years class. Before you all blast me I know its months away and that probably a hand full of our guys we have verbally committed right now wont end up making it. There are always surpirses, but how are most of yall feeling about it all right now. I mean I guess thats kinda expected with how were playing right now and a lot of people see the negatives of it. Im hoping that dooley can pull some last minute magic like he done last year!

and to anyone that calls me a negavol, im not meaning this to sounds negative, just wondering what yall think of the situation. No matter what, I been cheering for this team all 23 years of my life. Went to my first home game when i was 6 months old, and haven't missed many home games! Heres to the vols gettin it turned around!:rock:

It doesn't scare me, but I'm one who doesn't really watch recruiting until late December. Even then, I take it with a grain of salt since it can be like throwing darts blindly when labeling a recruit.

yeah i agree with you guys you cant determine how a highschool kid will mature into a college player. so stars go out the window. It didnt hurt me any alwaysvol, if anything it made me appreciate the tradition and true meaning UT football holds and understand the game from a young age.

I think there are probably a few 4 and 5 stars that will commit on or around NSD, thus boosting our ranking. Besides, Dooley's plan is to ignore stars and rankings and get players that fit a specific system and have heart and character.

I'm concerned that so many people let Rivals and Scout do their thinking for them. The star rating should be the icing on the cake. Way too many people flip out about whether a recruit has three or four stars without ever seeing the video, reading the detailed scouting report, sitting in on an analysis session, discussing the long term needs of the team with the coaching staff, etc.

Not to sound smug, but I'd rather have the right 3 and 4 star recruits now than the wrong 4 and 5 star recruits. A couple solid recruiting classes and successful seasons from now, the right 4 and 5 star players will start showing up. Shortcuts in the process can lead to nasty results.

Not really. We're just trying to fill our glaring needs with this class and he's done a pretty good job of it so far IMO. By next year I think our recruiting will get back to top 10 status.

If we end up getting Cameron Clear and Antonio Richardson, alone they will put us near or in the top 15. This doesn't include Vincent Dallas and the DL Williams who are basically vol locks.

No I'm not worried.

Dooley has a plan in place & I see it unfolding right now. He is filling our needs right now in the trenches, were adding quality OL that will add very good depth. We have 2 good DTs commited right now & were pushing hard for some big time DTs. We are adding some very very good DBs with this class, that as we all can see we desperately need help at. The best thing about all of our current commitments is that none of them have grade issues, which is very very important for this class, we NEED every player that signs to be eligible.

This class will get better, it's not hard to sell Tennessee as a program. We have the tradition, the facilities, the NFL pipeline, ect.. What is hard to sell is losing, we were left with depleted talent & depth. I think Dooley is doing a very good job in recruiting with the situation he was left in. Of course we all want those 4* & 5* recruits, but the fact is that were not a hot commodity right now. We have to get the players that build the foundation of a program first & foremost which Dooley has done. By NSD we will be in on quite a few top talented players to finish the class out with.

IMO we finish somewhere between 10-15. I guarantee next years class will be better. People underestimate the importance of having 2-3 years to build relationships with recruits, high school coaches, & mommys & daddys.

I think its important to add the quality youth that we have on our team, too. We have a good solid foundation of quality and talented players that are only freshmen and sophomores. Kiffin's last class and Dooley's first class has some players in it. These guys are the first building blocks to CDD's plans if they can develop and help mentor new players.

It scares me that our fanbase is scared in October, especially when we have so many kids highly regarded that are interested in us. But hey, it's a common theme for Vol fans to freak out before they have a body of work to judge from.

I think its more important that we are fulfulling our needs on the DL and OL. Stars mean nothing, its the coaches job to ready them. Just b/c you have a couple of stars by your name doesnt mean your any better. For example: Phillip ***** does this make me awesome?? :D

Our top rated 2005 class helped win us a ton of games. Oh, wait. No, it didn't. Nu'Keese really brought it for us too. And Crompton. Wow was he lights out.

Also, a good ammount of our 3 stars are 5.7 or 5.6 and are almost 4 stars. .1 or .2 away from being 4 stars.
