Once Promising Bucs Season Ends With A Thud

i.e.
R.I.P. Joan Gruden, and take your punter with ya-- wish I could say nice knowing ya, but I can not.. couldn't stand you from the moment you were picked to take Dungy's team to the Super Bowl, then you dismantled the ones who threatened you most.. maybe your good pal Tiger can use a waterboy on tour next year?

If Gruden caddies for anyone next year it will be John Daly...

Lofton- Nice avatar!

And on Gruden, I bet they keep him at least for next year.

I think he returns as well...but dang his rope is getting shorter and shorter. The fan base down there was split pretty well before this week's game...it's only gonna get worse from here.

Tampa fans are ready to run gruden out of town. He should have taken the UT job---he will probably get fired next year if the bucs choke again and don't make the playoffs.

Remind me how many Super Bowls Saint Tony won with that group. Also, Tony had the same influence in putting that team together I did. The next personnel decision Tony Dungy gets to make in the NFL will be his first. Rich McKay and Bill Polian have carried his Bible thumping arse.

I think Dungy deserves some credit. I would take John Gruden over him, but the Colts did get much better under his watch, and I think Tampa Bay improved as well.

My point exactly. Why the hell are people so determined to put an asterisk on Gruden's early accomplishments in Tampa?

Dungy had plenty of opportunities with the Bucs...and he couldn't get it done - in fact, if I'm not mistaken, the Bucs failed to score an offensive touchdown in 4 consecutive playoff appearances under Dungy. Then, along comes Gruden, and they roll to a world championship.

Gruden came in did the job that Tony Dungy couldn't do in Tampa.

Gruden has a banged up defense that is getting a little long in the tooth. They will need to retool in the next year or two.

I like Tony Dungy...I think he's a good coach, and good man. In my little fairy tale world, people ultimately get what they deserve. He pressed on after falling short in Tampa, and he successfully coached his next team to a world championship.

He does deserve credit for playing an integral role in the change of culture in Tampa. He wasn't solely responsible for turning them into a perennial playoff team, but he was a big factor. Also critical in that turnaround was his ability to surround himself with top-flight assistants....Monte Kiffin, Herm Edwards, Lovie Smith, Mike Tomlin, Rod Marinelli, etc. made up an impressive coaching staff.....and, watching Fulmer select his assistants at UT has given me a great appreciation for coaches who hire great talent.

If the Bucs fired him tomorrow, Gruden's cell phone would be ringing within about 5 minutes with teams like Cleveland, St. Louis and Detroit wanting to know how much he wanted and how fast he could get there.

I'm all for coach LK, he's our leader now. But I kinda feel cheated because I really thought Gruden might come to Rocky Top. Man would'nt he have looked great in that orange polo and white vols visor snarlin at Meyer and Saban? All the pieces but 1 fit, he had a past here, he had family ties here, he had money invested here, he has won a super bowl in the NFL and basically had done every goal you could as an NFL coach. He is having fanbase issues in Tampa with them dropping on harder times, and I hoped he thought like I would've...that a man in this situation who loved coaching players would love to take on the new fresh challenge of returning a top 10 team back to prominence against the great SEC coaches. But if he wants to sputter his life away squeezing out wins in Tampa, maybe we are better off we got LK anayway.

Yep, Gruden would have been an awesome image on our sideline..........I'd love to have seen it. Since I can't see that, can we see Layla on the sideline wearing a Buck Fama T shirt.

why does everyone want to make excuses for this guy? you either get it done or you don't. all i hear is he has no offense or his defense is banged up. the bottom line is the results. i would have given him one more year though. i think it was a good move to fire the tampa gm, however. some how tampa should have been able to get gruden a qb.
