On the radio they were just talking about how Diebler has done horrible during his career when they play in a dome - just wondering if this is perhaps an overlooked aspect of this game? From what I've read it can affect some players due to depth perception, noise, lighting, etc.

Statistically it is said it is harder to shoot.. Not sure if we've had any dome experience this year though

This might not be good for Scotty Hopson either...He will be short on everything. I really hope he takes it to the basket tonight instead of settling for the 3 ...

The percentage shooting drops like 2% for all teams combined. That's less than a shot a game.... No big deal.

Technically yes :p

I guess I mean domes used for football where they make a half assed basketball court and pack in twice the normal capacity.

Gotcha, well both teams have had ample time to practice there so hopefully it won't effect their games. UT more so then Ohio St. :)

Some experience.

I wouldn't worry about it, though. Dome effects are overblown.

Using the dome as an excuse would be right up there with Urban using the flu as an excuse..

The dome effect is a myth.
You either have a good night or a bad night.

It's depth perception. It's not a myth. Ever shot in a dome? It's a lot tougher than shooting in a high school gymnasium; more comparable to shooting on an outdoor court.

Yeah, they tried to use that one a lot in the late 90's when we made our 3 year run. Delk hitting 8 three's in the championship game, and the countless others we made put an end to that one, pretty much.

The ONLY people I can see it affecting at all are the Saint Mary's/Northern Iowa's of the world, after playing in small gyms. But quite frankly, with the testicular fortitude of those kids and the way they are playing, I don't think they care if they are playing on sand in Iraq.

I can believe it makes a difference. I shot so much on an outdoor goal when I was a kid that it took a while to adjust to shooting in the gym. That is the problem in a dome. Yes, there is a roof, but it does not feel like it. With that said, it is the same for both teams so it should not affect the outcome. Probably favors the team that takes high percentage shots.

I'm only worried if it's the GA Dome

:clapping: Good one!

I attended and played basketball (for fun) for years in the mini-dome in Johnson City. The atmosphere in a domed stadium set up for basketball is very different than a normal gym. Given that, TBA is huge and probably very equivalent to a dome as far as differences. A focused Vol will not even notice and if the team is unfocused we don't have much of a chance anyway. GO VOLS!
