Not sure how that process works; I'm sure the staff already has some of the more obvious redshirts determined (Crompton etc.). They probably watch the incoming freshmen in fall drills and depending on the depth chart and how they look they decide who might see playing time and who won't.

Just guessing here, but we aren't thin at many positions, except for center, guard, and maybe safety. I'd look for guys like Demetrice Morley, Josh McNeil, LaMarcus Coker, Chris Scott, etc. to compete right away for spots on the three deep depth chart. Some of the other guys are probably good enough to play right away on special teams.

I guess, techincally, it's not an official redshirt until the last snap of the season. (especially the way our last couple have gone)

Very, very good point. Knocking on wood that we don't have to use up many of our planned redshirts due to necessity.

There will be redshirts and alot of them. For those who do not realize UT has 34 Freshmen on the roster this fall and will have to break that class up some way. Look for about 18-20 to redshirt.

Some of you are going to be very surprised how long it takes to name a starter.
