Josh Selby, Joe Jackson & Jordan McRae will be taking official visits to UT for the Florida football game on Sep 20th (I think that's the date)

UT is also trying hard to get Dominick Cheek to come in and it looks good for him to show up.

2010 7 footer, Davin Nrsack (sp) will be visiting UT this weekend. He has OH St, Uconn, UT and UK on his list....UK and UT have the best chance at him at this point. IU is going to Patterson school to watch David this weekend.

Also, 2011 combo guard Jeremiah Davis will be visiting UT in the near future.

He seems to not be favoring us in every article but Maggard, Rob Lewis, and some other "insiders" on VQ like our chances. If we really have a shot, I would expect him to be a little more vocal about us and tell everyone that he is visiting us like Memphis, Indiana, and whoever else. I think he feels more comfortable with other schools and while he wants to check us out, I don't expect him to make a visit. We are like the bad boy that the good girl wants to take a chance with but she seems like she is going to settle for something less risky.

I am hoping all the articles I am reading are slanted but I am definitely not getting my hopes up. If he comes to UT, I think it would be a great decision on his part but I really think the only shot is if he waits to the spring and Hopson blows up and leaves. I guess we shall see... I hope i am wrong because a line-up with Maze, Hopson, and Cheek would be unstoppable.

I am predicting Nova or Kansas.

To be clear...I don't think UT has much of a shot at all with Dominic Cheek. I think they are at best 5th on his list. I just said that it looks like it's good for the visit to go forward (although not finalized yet). The good thing is that getting a kid on campus can put you in a much better spot if done right. A UT win over UF with these kids at the game could make some headway.

I think UT gets Josh Selby, but Jackson goes to Memphis.

I have no idea about McRae, honestly.

UT has a good shot at David Nrsack and Jeremiah Davis.....UK is the other team doing well with those two.

Certain people were saying a month ago that if Cheek's recruitment ended then, he would be going to UT. Not sure where they were getting that from because I have not heard our name from his mouth in a while.

I am with Maggard on this. I really think the "certain people" were overreacting. Sounds like Elliot Williams part 2 but this time we really didn't have a good shot.

Yeah, while I admit that I'm not totally clued into Cheek, I have never thought UT had anything remotely considered to be a "good chance" to land him.

If people were talking that UT was leading a month ago, they were getting bad info. None of the college coaches I've spoken to who are recruiting him have ever been worried about UT's chances.

Glad to see the Marc Maggard with an unexpected appearance. All I can say is, it's about damn time. You'd be amazed how rare post-ending initials are around these parts. It's sad really.

Good to have you back.

I just wonder why so many of you care about recruiting. Fulmer can take his and lose to yours or he can take yours and turn around and lose to his. As long as he is around the tops recruits are wasting their time.

I think you may be overestimating Fulmer's influence on basketball recruits.

Good try. These are basketball recruits though.

I do actually agree with you on this. Kind of like my Chavis and defensive staff theory. It is somewhat known that they aren't the best recruiters and the only time we have great defenses is when we have great talent (see 05). So we can't have a great defense with average talent and the only way we can get the great talent is by the offensive coaches doing a great job in recruiting (b/c the D coaches aren't good recruiters) so in the end, what is the point of retaining the defensive coaches? We should either A) hire someone who can recruit or B) hire someone who can get a lot out of average talent. It makes sense when I think about it but it is hard to regurgitate it.

Also it isn't really fair to the offensive coaches that not only do we expect them to excel at developing talent, coaching the Xs and Os, and recruiting for the offense but they also have to make up for the poor recruiting by the defensive staff. I don't think Caldwell or Brooks are bad recruiters and I am glad they are on our staff (although I don't see the point of having 2 d-line coaches) but I can't say the same about Slade and Chavis. Chavis is a great LBs coach but that is almost all that he brings to the table.

im gonna take a stab at it..
UT gets Selby
Wake gets Cheek.. they've been rolling on high profile BB recruits, and Cheek loved his visit there
and there rivals with UNC, a school that he once was considering, untill they started lacking interest

I think we get Cheek on campus, especially during Florida game/week we jump up his list. A lot.

As expected, Cheek to visit UT this weekend is now confirmed.

Marc, recruits are certainly using the official visit process to catch high profile football this season. Did you see the visit list Tim Floyd had for the SC-Ohio State game? Can't say the kids aren't thinking through their recruitment.

it sucks for ohio state if they had some recruits at the USC game AHA

but obviously, USC probably just got about five more 5 stars because of that game.
