PIKE vs. CARMEL ON TV

Indianapolis Pike will play Carmel Friday at 8 p.m. on ESPNU. Craig Dragash will be there for Indy Sports Legends.

Carmel, ranked No. 4, is coming off a 21-15 win over rival Warren Central. Pike, ranked No. 7, defeated Lawrence North 57-14 last week.

The game features two prime-time receivers. Carmel’s Austin Roberts is committed to UCLA, and Pike’s Dominique Booth is committed to Tennessee.

Pike’s three losses are by a combined six points, including one-point losses to No. 2 Ben Davis and No. 3 Center Grove.

Analysts say he has good speed but strength is in making things happen after the catch. They seem to think he will be an ideal true slot receiver to compliment North on the outside.

He is all over this drive but having troubles catching the ball so far. He is turning to make a play before he catches the ball but he knows it. Let's see if he makes the correction.

Booth getting all the attention from the Carmel D. I like the fact that he gets right back up after being leveled...which he has been a couple of times. It doesn't seem to affect him. He has a T bandana on under his helmet...representing.

The WR going to UCLA next season that plays for the other team has impressed me more. JMO

Apparently he is one of the older guys on the field. Pike's D has to watch for Carmel's alternate check down receiver as well. All of these make him more effective, but Booth is more physically gifted. Booth is tougher than he looks as well.

The receiver for the other team (Roberts?) was the real deal. Heard his name all night and was really THE player for his team. Booth was pretty pedestrian in this game. Of course you can't look at one game, but if you did there is little question who the stud was on the field last night. The difference was like comparing Vincent Dallas to CP. And if you have a problem with that, please watch the game film first before you accuse me of "blasfing" a recruit.

Carmel simply targeted Booth all night to put a stop to pike. They made someone else beat them. Pike had a good run game but it wasn't enough. Carmel had several receivers on the offensive side that they were able to spread the ball around to. If you stopped Austin Roberts the check down receivers would make a TD (and did). So yeah, you heard and saw Austin Roberts put on a show. He was also one of the oldest kids on the field and took advantage of that. I thought Booth looked more physically gifted. He has tremendous upside and wait until that young man gets into our S&C program. He was a fighter and very physical despite being a lean young man. He was inside traffic all night bouncing around and getting laid out with out fear. He just got back up and did it again. He was also extremely versatile. They lined him up at tight end a number of times. I saw him come out of the back field a couple of times...they were trying to feed him the ball, but Carmel just had his number with gang tackles all night.

Not worried at all about Booth being a very solid contributor at UT. Class act, high character kid, very strong and talented WR in the Anquan Boldin mold IMO.

It'd be like comparing Dallas to CP? Calm down, just because Booth didnt have 20 receptions for 500 yards doesn't mean he's mediocre. People were complaining about Mouhon being slow after his first game, and look how wrong they were. So in summary, Booth is gonna be fine, I promise.
