At least he wanted the UT job. It isn't his fault the UT administration messed up the process. I know he lost to Dooley, but I wouldn't put too much stock into just one game; especially at a point early in the season when UT's offense was rolling before JH went down. I hope he is able to do better than most are expecting, myself included. Let's see how the press conference goes and what kind of staff he will bring in.

Exactly, if he WANTs to be here, lets give him a chance. Apparently he is well liked by his Cincy players, not something Dooley can claim.

This just sucks. Reading all the posts this morning feels like I fell asleep in a time machine last night and woke up in January 2010. The posts are the same, the name has just been changed from Dooley to Jones. Hopefully tonight I'll fall asleep in the same time machine and wake up in December 2015 and UT will FINALLY be hiring a real coach.

I don't blame Jones, I blame Hart. I hope Jones isn't Dooley 2.0, his record shows he's better, but Hart looks to be Hamilton 2.0 with this hire. All I know is that Jones better put together the best coaching staff possible i.e. Graham, Pittman, and Chaney probably need to stay at this point and Tee better be on a flight to Knoxville this afternoon. Then Randy Shannon or someone with a proven defensive record better be one their way as well.

Would have rather kept Dooley, fire sunseri. Save the 13 million this fiasco will cost us. Seek out proven Dcoord. Who is Jones gonna recruit? Ohio, Michigan and Pitts. We'll get the cream of the crop from those states? Lmao

Hart spoke to Peyton! He wanted 2 more years before he can come to Tennessee.... So came Jones into the picture! :D

The true test for Jones will come long before the team hits the football field- what kind of staff he can assemble and how well he/they recruit. The offensive and defensive coordinators will be key. Jay Graham and Pittman must be retained and Tee Martin needs to be a part of this team. Also, the players that we have need to be brought on board with this hire. If they don't believe, then we're back to square one.

Good post. Btw, Chelsea is awesome, hopefully Vol fans don't treat Butch as bad as Chelsea fans are treating Benitez.

I'm glad so called UT fans can predict the freakin future. Who knew! What if this guy comes out next year and shocks everyone by fielding a competitive team. I would say beating Oregon, but realistically that is not gonna happen even if we hire Saban. Let's give this guy a chance though. He has had a winning record at his last two jobs so he must be doing something right. That's more than Dooley had going for him when he got hired. Everyone whining and moaning over this is gonna feel really dumb if this turns out to be an awesome hire. I'm gonna support him until he gives me a reason not to. Go Vols! And let's get behind our new coach and support this team!
