another dominating performance by the Miller Lite Team Penske Dodge Charger and it's driver and team, Kurt Busch. this is the hottest team in NASCAR right now, and with the playing field essentially being leveled in about 3 weeks, the last person i'd want to see if i was the competetion in The Chase is that ole 2 car.

with the race next weekend at Kurt Busch Motor Speedway, the following week at California (see also:the same track as Michigan) and then Richmond, there may be a few more wins before Chase time.

when they announced Pat Tryson as his crew chief i thought the team would be set up for a real run next year. i had no idea Pat and Kurt would mesh so well that the team has turned into a real Chase contender.

i am now officially ready for Saturday, Sunday, or Monday as i start Bristol week Thursday.

Kurt Busch Motor Speedway?? I don't think so. If you want to call it Darrell Waltrip Speedway fine, but Busch is only tied with Gordon for the most wins among active drivers there so, you can hold off on that.

tied for only 3 more days.

in the last 11 races:

average finishing position:

-Busch: 11.8
-The Greatest NASCAR driver ever, even God is jealous of him: 12.9

-5 wins since 2000 for Busch at Kurt Busch Motor Speedway
-5 wins since 1992 for Gordon at Kurt Busch Motor Speedway

hmm...who's been better?

ps-nobody cares about Darrell Yaptrip anymore.

somebody cares about Waltrip, there's a grandstand named after him at BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY. When Busch has grandstands named after him then you can start hanging up signs saying Kurt Busch Motor Speedway, until then, no.

I just noticed that Smokey and Kurt Busch sort of bear a resemblance.

Love him or hate him, you have to admit Kurt Busch is dominant at Bristol. To say he is "only tied" with Gordon among active drivers actually only helps the "kurt Busch Motor Speedway" argument when you consider the fact that he has tied Gordon in less than half the time.

I guess Jr should just forget it. Kurt Busch is going all the way. He still will at least win 1 of 2 at either Richmond or Bristol. Jr excels at the short tracks too but Kurt is just running strong.

I believe the last person anyone wants to see in the Chase, isn't the blue deuce, I believe its the 20 car.....Already 3 wins in the last what, 5 or 6 races??? Kurt might be heating up, but Tony Stewart is pretty hot himself and would have won the Bristol race this Spring had he not had fuel pump issues, should be a great race tonight

That's the difference between him and his Dad, his Dad would have taken Kurt out in a heart beat....Made things exciting to see what the man would do if he was still around....Oh well...TNFAN07, I'd say if he isn't ready for next year, I know alot of his fans who are....I'm looking forward to it

Dale Sr. only would have taken him out if he were holding him up on the track. He would have given him a couple of laps to move or he would move him himself. LOL He wouldn't have wrecked him just to gain some points on him.

Dale Jr. better start getting ready for next year. His fans and especially his non-fans will be expecting more out of him than ever. You can't be given the best equipment in Nascar and not get the best results.

I am sure your dad is enjoying the whole Kurt Busch/Dale Jr. drama. LOL

It's going to take an absolute miracle for Junior to make the Chase this weekend, it pisses me off that the fact of the matter is that he's one blown engine away from making the Chase....You can't blow two engines in 3 weeks and expect to make the Chase unless you're already locked in, DEI made him the guinea pig IMO to test stuff for next year, not to take anything away from what Kurt Busch has done in the past 5 or 6 weeks but he wouldn't have had such an easy time doing so if Jr. would have finished the Glen and Indy...Oh well things happen, maybe if he doens't make the Chase he'll show up to race and actually win before next year

That being said, has what its going to take for Jr. to make the Chase been said yet??? I figure its something along the lines of Harvick will have to finish back in the 30 somethings and Jr. will have to win the race and lead the most laps or something like that, either way a miracle

Kurt would have made the chase regardless of those problems Junior has had. it's Harvick that would be on the outside looking in right now. that 29 team is really struggling right now.

I think we can think Pablo Wrecko for that. He was 7th in the points until Pablo decided to take him out.:) But seriously what's going on over there. He was terrible at Bristol and that's his best track. He and Busch are 1-2 in driver rating there. He was terrible. Also at Cali earlier this year he was going to pass Kenseth for the lead with 2 to go and a caution came out and he got a flat tire and finished 17th. Sunday he was nowhere near the top. Richmond is his 2nd best track though so I'm not worried. But out of all the tracks in the chase Loudon, Phoenix, and Atlanta are really the only tracks he's been successful at.

What surprises me this weekend is that Harvick brought that new Chevy engine that they've had so many problems with this year to the track this weekend and Jr. brought the old reliliable engine, I think if I'm trying to get into the Chase or not get knocked out, I'm not taking this chance....I'm going with the old engine, so who knows if Harvick blows a motor and Jr. could win and dominate like he's capable of doing at Richmond(not many places can I say that)he could make it, SMALL glimmer of hope but who knows luck could be on his side, not getting my hopes up though
