Goodbye fries? NYC may ban trans fats - Diet & Nutrition - MSNBC.com

NEW YORK - Three years after the city banned smoking in restaurants, health officials are talking about prohibiting something they say is almost as bad: artificial trans fatty acids.

The city health department unveiled a proposal Tuesday that would bar cooks at any of the city’s 24,600 food service establishments from using ingredients that contain the artery-clogging substance, commonly listed on food labels as partially hydrogenated oil.

What is wrong with this country?

Where will it end?

I have no problem with requiring food manufacturers and suppliers to warn people about the dangers inherent in eating certain foods, but to completely prohibit their sales...?

I just don't agree with that. If you wanna fatten yourself up like Hansel and Gretel on the way to the witch's oven, that's your perogative.

You can have my doughnut when you pull it from my flabby, sugar-caked dead fingers.

However, you can have my cigarettes long before then.

I just want to know if anyone did not see this coming when cities began to ban legal substances in public...

Just another example of your rights being trampled on. Freedom is just not as free as it used to be.

NYC, Philly, Cleveland, N.O, L.A.....etc...are all liberal versions of Reagan's vision of America being a shining city upon a hill.

Reagan's version gave light to the freedom loving people. The liberal version is the beacon of socialism....................:whistling:
