That's rule #1 of being black.

Did you receive this information or a similar presentation (regarding the video) during classes? I watched the entire video and found it very informative. Entertaining presentation was a plus.

Fact: There is nothing you can say to an officer that will be used for your benefit later.

Fact: There is nothing you can say to an officer that will be used for your benefit later.

Follow up Fact: Not saying anything will be used by most cops or detectives to try and guilt you into saying anything that they can then turn into an implication of guilt or a reason to try and get more evidence from you.

There is no scenario where you should talk to an officer without a lawyer, whether innocent or guilty. A cop's job is not to find the truth, it is to get convictions.

If you are ever being questioned for any reason, your response should be very politely, "Officer, if you have sufficient evidence to charge me with a crime, then do so. If you do not, then all subsequent contact with me should first be reached through my lawyer. Thank you and have a nice day."

They may imply you're guilty, may try and goad anything out of you, but they also won't have anything to use against you later.

Don't talk to the jack booted Storm Troopers. They only Protect and Serve the Government and not the People.

So a guy walks into a mall and begins shooting the place up. Just before you escape you see the guy go into the Game Stop. The police arrive and ask you, "Where did he go?" And your answer is, "talk to my lawyer!" Nice.

Everyone should watch this and I'm glad other people on VN would pass it around. Most cops are good cops, but even in their good cop zeal they can use seemingly innocent things you say as evidence against you, because they think you are guilty.

You have to watch the video to see the examples this guy uses to illustrate the point.

lol! exactly. Here's another one. A police officer pulls up to ask you something. Obviously the most common reaction is to fly into a rage, go to the cruiser before the cop gets out, and try to wrestle his firearm from him. Something like that would NEVER end badly.
