It is 9:03 AM Monday morning and time to pump some sunshine...
Having been the first year I truly invested substantial time into following recruiting and the offseason, this was one of the most disappointing seasons ever for me. I saw the talent, whiffed on Sunseri (seriously, who would've known he could suck that bad?), and believed in this team/Dooley with steadfast determination. They had/have the potential to be a great football team, and I genuinely believe that.
I believed Dooley would turn this around, because I am a believer in hard work. This team worked hard this season and never quit despite the tremendous adversity and pressure placed on them. Derek Dooley IMO was a class act and represented the university well despite his inability to win SEC football games. We have players that I am proud of on our roster; these guys have all endured some tough times here recently and still work their a$$ off to try and win for our community, our fans, and our name.
Despite all the negativity, I am now realizing how excited we should be for the future of our program. We have 1st tier facilities, a strong roster (arguable, sure), and the secret weapon: HUNGER. This hunger to win is shared by all of Volnation, including those with the deep pockets. Dave Hart, our athletic director, understands the importance of Tennessee football to our university and will go all in to get it fixed. Our fan base has been divided by Fulmer, Kiffin, and Dooley. Now we are starved, and I argue that this is what finally unifies us. No longer will we take winning for granted (until after Gruden leaves).
The future is bright, Volnation...
We are coming back hard and fast, don't fret. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
P.S. I think Dooley compares well to Zook at Flowda.
