He gets the 5 million paid over 3 years. His monthly check from UT will be $102,000 plus whatever he gets from where he coaches or broadcasts or administrates.

It's called a gamble. You pay someone to come in and win. It's not guarantee. If they don't, you fire them and suck it up. Not much UT can do about this.

To be fair, someone needs to start the monthly buyout countdown as they did for CPF.

Mike Hamilton was the worst contract negotiator on the planet and Jimmy Sexton needs to be banned from the UT campus.

dude, this guy couldn't get it done in the bush leagues where hammy found him. who the hell would hire him?

dd knew it was a no lose situation. he is more cut out for tv and radio like lee corso. he looks good and has more knowledge than the average fan. it's hard being a good second generation coach. look at skip holtz and all the bowdens. if he goes to espn he'll tell all our business though.

Dooley is negotiating my next salary. Or if I land a big time coaching job, I'm calling him for contractual advise or hope that Hamilton is the one interviewing me....

I was under the impression that if he took another coaching job he forfeits the buyout money. Am I dreaming this up?

Dooley will never coach any team of significance, he was a failed experament that cost Hammy his job and UT millions. I would love for him to become the head coach of UGA or Bama or any SEC team so we can have a garuntee W on our scheduel but noone is that stupid.

Why? Jimmy does his job very well. Also he's an alum and season ticket holder and has a box. It's all on MH. Jimmy does a damned fine job

I hope he goes to Kentucky and does reasonably well.

I like coach and would wish him either in orange, blue or whatever.

Totally agree! It'd be like banning Alabama for having a good team, just because we suck.
