I was wondering what Nascar would do if this race was pushed back until Tuesday or Wednesday. Would they just schedule it for the next off week in July. Right now there's a 70% chance of rain tomorrow and 40% chance on Monday and Tuesday. It looks like that tropical storm may make its way up there bringing rain which would bring the chances of rain up even further for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Yeah, doesn't look like Barry is going to cooperate... hopefully it won't start raining until later in the day as it gets closer.

Awesome map I was looking for one of those, but yeah, hopefully it will hold off until the evening.

In all the years I've watched stock car racing (and that goes back to the 60's), they've never had to delay more than 1 day.

The rain chance is up to 100% for tomorrow. And it's 60% for Monday and 30% for Tuesday.

If they can't race on Monday, they'll probably postpone the race until the July 22nd weekend. I think the last time a race weekend was moved because of weather was 1997, when the spring Talladega race was moved for rain. The 2000 Pepsi 400 was postponed until October because of wildfires.

My family and I were going to that race and as soon as we got in Daytona they called the race off, but anyway what about the tv contracts. Since in July it will be TNT's turn to broadcast the race would they broadcast it or would Fox?

Considering they race in Pocono the following weekend, which isn't too far from Dover, they could race it on Tuesday if they had to. However, even though tomorrow doesn't look good, Monday doesn't look like a complete washout and you have to remember, concrete dries a lot faster than asphalt, so if they can get a nice break from rain they can dry the track very quickly and race at least half of it in one day.

Pocono being close to Dover doesn't really matter... they still have to go back to North Carolina to switch out the cars in the haulers then trek back up to Pennsylvania. I'm not sure how long of a trip that is, but they'd be cutting it pretty close if they ran the race on Tuesday.

You guys bring up a good point about Pocono being next week, but I don't think Nascar would start a race just for the sake of running it halfway.

not necessarily... when the Busch series races in California and Mexico City in back-to-back weeks, they will bring an extra hauler, meet somewhere in Texas, and swap cars and equipment instead of driving all the way back to NC and then to Mexico. So, if the Busch teams can do it, I'm sure the Nextel Cup teams have an extra hauler or a test hauler they can send up to Dover, switch cars and equipment, and send the regular hauler on to PA. So, it's possible being Dover is semi-close to Pocono.

this is a very important thing to keep in mind. also, the track is high banked and a mile long. if the rain breaks, you're looking at 45-60 minutes to dry the track.

I don't think there's any chance of this thing getting underway tomorrow. I'm just hoping they don't delay this thing off unti July.

Monday is looking good now. Only a 30% chance of showers, all before 1pm. They should be good to go tomorrow.

Currently 8 hours before race coverage starts and it looks as if it should get in. Rain is expected to be gone by 11:00 A.M. or noon. So it may be a slight delay, but concrete dries fast and we should be racing in a little bit.

Looks like the rain is about to move out of Dover or already has.
Edit: Well I'm a big idiot, as it appears that there is an 80% chance of thunderstorms for today so maybe we're not going racing today. It depends on which website you look at.
