Just in case any of you true Vols For Life need a little reminder of how far this group of young men have traveled. We are 5-1 against ranked opponents, and that one loss came from what you see pictured. Our Tennessee island team of misfits have faced more obstacles in life than you or I could possibly fathom as a group, respectively. These young men have been cast out, overlooked, and given up on too many times in life. They then found each other. They found each other wearing the same power "T" on each side of the helmet they adorn. Some found the discipline and leadership they never had. Others found the brother they needed. They will continue to overcome. They will continue to overachieve. Not because you or I live or die with them on Saturdays as fans watching them from afar, nor because we believe in them with every fiber of our being. They will overcome, overachieve, and conquer all disbelievers because they fight for the 10 other brothers that line-up beside them on each play. They will fight between the whistles and continue to amaze because they have become that 6-letter word they all needed. They will become Champions on the field and in life because they have become more than a team. They have become a family. They have learned what "I Will Give My All For Tennessee Today" truly means. They have been knocked to the canvas, but they didn't Tapout. They didn't quit.

If you need a reminder of how far this team has traveled, sit back and simply watch what a family will do for each other when said family knows for a fact that the brother on either side of them in the field of play will never quit.

Enjoy the next two months, ladies and gentlemen. They don't require you to believe in them. They believe in each other.

GO. BIG. ORANGE. ๐Ÿค˜๐Ÿผ

Oy vey.

And complete with a "champions of life" reference even.

This sounds like Knute Rockne channeled through Butch Jones.

Brother, I appreciate your sentiment. But there is just way too much of it. Sentiment, I mean.

Leave ESPN the gig of turning football into a Made For TV Real Life Drama (emphasis on Drama).

The lads are awesome. We love them. Don't need to turn them into an episode of Housewives of The Jersey Shores to show it.

And please change the thread title. We're not "down." 8-1 with one loss to a very good team is not even in the same galaxy as "down."

Florida is "down." Arkansas is "down." A&M is "down" (okay, way the hell down).

We're just about as "up" as any program can be. Yes, even with Saturday's loss. We're good. Without the drama.

Go Vols!

If Banks hangs onto that pick and Hooker doesn't overthrow it those two plays...it could've been interesting.

Cast out, overlooked, and given up on? Are most of our players from orphanages and rehab centers?

Nice post, but this line was a little too dramatic and doesn't make sense. It's just football - "These young men have been cast out, overlooked, and given up on too many times in life."
Have you read the stories of Hendon Hooker, Jalin Hyatt, and Byron Young... just to name a few?

New member... yes. Passionate... yes. "Champions in life" is obviously something that has struck a chord. This is NOT my day job. I'm a disabled veteran. Hate me if you must. You will only be hating loyalty in every bone. ๐Ÿ’ฏ

I would bet we have all heard those stories. Those are football stories. If Young is still a manager at Dollar General there should be absolutely no shame in that. He wasn't failing at life. It's mainly about perspective. Jason Isbell has a song called Relatively Easy that speaks to perspective and I think it could apply here.

Still compared to those
A stones throw away from you
Our lives have both been relatively easy
Take the(a) year and make a break
There ain't that much at stake
The answers could be relatively easy

Lol. How much time did you spend writing this?

I caught the champions of life bit as well, but I don't believe the OP was trying to associate this team and coaching with Butch, just a bad choice of words. This man is a disabled vet who deserves our gratitude and thanks. Let's just try to be a little kinder. It isn't hard and doesn't even hurt.

Thank you for your service, a big salute your way.

Seriously, where are all the down people? I just keep seeing new threads about "chin-up." It's starting to look like you are reminding yourselves.
Nobody likes watching their team get dominated, but the disgust is pretty mild IMO.

I said the same thing, Banks has to catch that ball, and maybe even score. Completely different atmosphere. That said, uga has 5 stars, UT more 3's than 4's.
