Well...Things have changed. We still have Fire of Brazil set, but I am now in need of finding a really fancy place for my girlfriend and I for the Auburn trip. We are staying downtown for this one. Any ideas for nice places downtown? As of now, I'm not sure of the exact location. I can get that info out tomorrow.

You're right near the Varsity. Not exactly fine dining, but worth a stop in if you're into that kind of food.

Baraonda is a "nice" Italian restaurant just down the street. It's a decent place to take a girl. Make sure there's nothing exciting going on at the Fox theater that night, though, or else don't go until after whatever's going on starts.

Food that causes the runs?

The Varsity is such a dump. Wouldnt recommend it to my worst enemy.

You guys clearly don't drink enough. Three chili cheese dogs and a large chocolate milk from the Varsity is the greatest hangover food on the planet.

It is not dining. It's only tangentially even food. But the V occasionally has its uses.

So would you say Buckhead is too far away? I really don't know...

I live in Buckhead. Ten-minute cab ride from your hotel. Be warned that Buckhead is a shadow of its former self, though, at least as far as the bar district goes. Don't come up here expecting to bar-hop anymore, if that's what you think of when you think "Buckhead."

Fogo, Bones, and Chops are probably your best dining bets in Buckhead right now. The Fish Market is sort of a Buckhead institution, but I wouldn't say it's worth taking a cab all the way up from Midtown for. Whether you would like the Bluepointe depends on how glamorous you want your dining to be. Lots of beautiful people at the bar; lots of expensive drinks served in martini glasses. Either very pretentious or very hip, depending on your point of view.

Really, I'd just stay in either mid- or downtown. No real reason to come up here.

the Varsity is mandatory for anybody who has been drinking and has never been there.

I went to Bones and it was excellent. The food was great and the service was one of the best I've ever seen.
Pricey Pricey Pricey, though...
Thanks to the cab ride to and from, as well as tax and tip, we couldn't get everything, so we just went with appetizers, sides, and desserts. It was still fantastic, though.
Thanks for all the help. Now on to the UGA game and Fire of Brazil!
