A new segment (?) on ESPN, Lou Holtz gives a digital prep talk to the team he thinks is going to win in the top match-up of the week.

I feel a lot dumber, and like I need to wipe the slobber off my face after watching that segment...

He's done it for a couple of years. There are some real gems in there of him going bats**t crazy.

Dr. Lou has been around awhile. And yes I need hanky after that.

One of the dumbest segments on ESPN.

QFT. It is a tragedy that Lou Holtz has that job. There are hundreds of people that would be so much better than him.

You can't understand him, he is a terrible analyst, his Notre Dame homerism is sickening, and the Dr. Lou segment is probably the worst idea in ESPN history. I seriously want to meet the person who came up with that idea and ask them what the **** they were thinking.

I changed the channel before Dr. Lou tonight. I watched the WNBA instead. It was 20x more entertaining than Dr. Lou and it wasn't anything special at all.

Holtz has safely entered the "Vitale-Corso Memorial Cartoon Character" phase of his broadcasting career.

He's not there to be insightful or to provide meaningful analysis (like Herbstreit or McShay or even Urban now)...he's there to seem entertaining to the fringe of their viewing audience that might not follow football that closely.

Espn really is about entertainment. And apparently the money is so good that former coaches who sign on lose all dignity and self respect to do things for entertainment of the audience (Dr. Lou). I stopped watching College Gameday about 4 years ago because why would I care what a former coach with a career losing record has to say about anything (Lee Corso). The only person I respect their analysis is Ron Jaworski, because he actually watches film and talks x's and o's.

Espn does pretty well with nfl coverage, but so does everybody else.

I have also given up entirely on college game day. Not too difficult of a decision with having to get up at 7am on a freaking saturday to do that though.

I agree about Lee Corso. What the hell does he know? The dude was a terrible HC. He's just an entertainer IMO.

Lou Holtz' presence on the network is tragic, but what's with the hate for Corso? Who cares if he didn't win as a coach? Last time I checked, he's not being paid to coach.

Corso is okay, although it's a bit sad to see him on there since the stroke, you can tell he's not quite all there anymore.

I got to give Corso a break though. He was fine before he had his stroke, and he just hasn't been good since.

Lou has never been good, but nobody wants to fire the nice, old man.

I forgot about that stroke he had a year ago. Now I feel bad. That College Football Awards show last year was sad when Fowler spoke about him.

Corso has looked better this year though. He doesn't seem to be slurring his speech quite so much. Same thing happened to my grandfather, and after a while it was like it never happened...I guess it just takes time for the brain to relearn how to speak properly.

Never want to speak badly of anyone that has a stroke, but I remember in the late 90's and early 2000's that Corso always picked against us. Herbie usually took up for us and Fowler was making trailer park references.

This is the point I am making. Corso was a bad coach, so he brings no credibility to the show in analyzing how good football teams are a generation later. I never remember Corso breaking down an offense or defensive scheme on the show. He is known for "not so fast" followed by some useless statistic and putting on head gear. And Dr. Lou and Mark May put on that fictional court debate with Reece Davis as the judge, that makes no sense. I just decided a few years ago that its not for me. I watch the games, but not the sideshow circus ESPN puts out.
