CPF continues to say that he doesn't have time to devote to hiring the new OC right now. My thought is that this should be his top priority. Sure, he is looking at people other than Cut that are currently employed, but I am wondering if he should be actively pursuing rather than ducking and dodging.

Lex, If I were a betting man I would wager that he is. It is common to not mention names and so forth until the time is right for all parties. Remember Auburn a couple of years ago with Tubberville. Be patient bro.

Patience.....ok. Maybe I just want to hear him be more proactive about the hire. Tell us that it is his top priority, even if he isn't even looking.

That sums my frustration up. I am tired of hearing this helpless tone. I wish he would step up and say we are going to make the hire that rights the ship, and I am working on it with every waking hour.

It won't happen until the end of the year.

Why hire one now and throw him in next week, trying to put toghether a game plan? That would make no sense.

What about those agencies hired to scout out the coaching talent? Didn't we hire one to pull in Pearl? That frees the coaches up to do their job while the consultants scout out and do all the research.

I don't think many are coming out publicly just since there are a few more games. Around the last game we might hear more public comments.

Well man I know what you mean. But he is an old O lineman and they are a little different. Not as flashy but smart. Look how players by position do on the NFL wunderlich test. O lineman finish the highest. Us D guys usually finish a lot lower. That is how O lineman get away with cheating all during a game better than D players.

It wouldn't be productive to rush this thing. I mean, it's probably going to end up being Cut. If that's so, he won't have to get used to much.

I know that it's been mentioned that we are looking across the country for someone and I don't buy it. They're just making it look like they're interested in others before throwing the bone to Cutcliffe.

Lex if he talks about spending most of his time looking for a new coach then he would get blasted by everyone wondering why he wasn't concered with winning out and getting this team to a bowl game. I think he is handling it the right way. His main focus has to be with the team.

Please not Cut, say it ain't so, been there-done that. Lets open up the doors, get some fresh air in this stale room. I can't breathe, help I can't breathe, huff, huff, huff. :twocents:

Well since he's done sooooo well with staffing and coaching of late maybe focusing on neither is better for him :tease2:

I would imagine OC's would have to finish out the regular season at least before moving to another team, so it may not be Fulmer that is dragging his feet. Something might be in the works already, and it's just not announced yet. I truly hope we go another direction besides Cutcliffe.

I think Cutcliffe is a good coach, but
1) He wants to be a HC, so how long would he stay?
2) We really need fresh ideas and new blood. We need to go outside of the family. Too much inbreeding and you get mutant children like our offense was this year.

I think his selection will be sought and hired in secrecy.

The choice be sealed in an envelope to be opened after:

1: We win our bowl game

2: After our win over UK (But losing to Vandy and not going to a bowl)

Or I may be wrong and we won't find out untill Jan=Feb or something.

:dunno: :dunno:

I think our recruiting has taken enough hits this year.

But hopefully with someone good coming in the recruits might turn it as a positive.

why rush this. it is obviously a huge choice to make. we can ride or die with this guy. i say take some time and make sure we get the right guy.

from what i hear though, it is cutcliffe for sure. they just havent agree on a contract and other legal matters.

he just needs to go ahead and tell everybody cut is the man. the way he says he is talking to people and is still open just makes me not like him even more. there is nobody else cut will be hired we just have to hear it from phil's mouth.

Listen Elvis, (be gentle)

Any OC worth coaching on The Hill is not just standing around unemployed. Anyone we might want, other than Cutcliffe, is with another team, hopefully involved in a winning season, and it wouldn't be appropriate to interfere with another head coach's staff in the middle of the season.

That Phil has not already named an OC tells me that he is seriously considering other candidates than Cutcliffe.

Personally, I think that would be a huge mistake unless Cut gets a head job somewhere.

David Cutcliffe is a great offensive coach. Look at his numbers while OC at UT. Look at what he did in Ole Miss. I know a few Ole Miss Fans who are not happy with how Cut was let go and believe they have stepped down with Orgeron.

So, Mr. hunka hunka, be patient. :biggrin2:

It would be nice to have the new OC in place for the bowl game, provided we get one, but there's just a right way to do things.

It is easier getting the bandwagon going than it is to maintain it. I think I would rather get the bandwagon going a little later and hope that the top recruits hop on near the end of the signing period while Cut is being heralded at the god of QB's and the receivers they dish them out to and hopefully the peripherial issues at TN will be overshadowed by this.

NO NO NO CUTCLI....
I don't care what he did in the past, it's just that the past.
People, he left here and was fired from a middle of the road
program.
We need NEW BLOOD.
I agree with the earlier post about all the inbreeding at UT
if you hire someone from the past or promote from within
you get the same results or plays over and over
We need some excitement, something fresh and new.
and don't say we will be throwing away 2 years while a new
system is employed, because J.Crompton hasn't been playing
yet and any system will be somewhat new to him.
If Ainge is the man (ha ha) the same goes for him, because he looks like its all new to him anyway.

Fulmer needs to be concentrating on winning these next 2 games so that the VOLS can get into a bowlgame. After we win those (hopefully), only then should he focus on getting a new OC for next year. He has his priorities straight right now. He probably already knows who he wants, but is just waiting on the right time to let everyone else know.
